Now, this was released at assembly 94 but it's nowhere in results. The group had a story that a demo of theirs (which is part of this one) failed at TP93 and so they thought about releasing it at asm94. At hornet archive it says released at ASM94 and ranked XX. In scene org there it is in the demo folder but not in results. Maybe it was released outside compos? So I have chosen assembly 94 and compo:none in the field and 98 rank. Also, this is the best screenshot I could get in dosbox. The loader crashes..

Now, what is a bit of amazing is that it is a really nice demo (with a bit oldschool effects mostly) that is written entirely in quickbasic according to the authors. They say that it would be bad in ET4000 but runs quite well in my 386 with ET4000. Except from fun hardware scrollers there are some dot routines which are smooth here and few more fun stuff. A start.bat file renames the rest to exe files and runs them and a player with nice GUS music here. Quite impressive if it's just quickbasic running on my 386!

It was supposed to compete, but as I remember it we weren't allowed to participate since someone had the opinion "but it's written in quickbasic?" or something like that. We were not happy at all... :-(

So yes, it was released outside the competition with an angry comment shown at the end since we didn't get to compete... ;-)

Hmm,. that's a lame. A demo is a demo since it's realtime regardless the language.

We disqualified an entry written in Qbasic at The Gathering in 2002 or something. The authors were furious and came raging into the democrew room. They left a bit more understanding, seeing as their textmode piece of garbage spent 9 minutes painting some letters on the screen. It was supposed to happen in less than 5 seconds.

Oddly enough, that "demo" also featured a moose. Go figure.

Yes, we tried to compete with this at Assembly 94. Then Sonic PC (well, at least that is why Liket wrote "Fuck Sonic PC. Fuck Sonic PC" all over the end of the released version) apparently didn't think that a demo written in Qbasic could compete. :-(

Well, we had fun at the party anyway. :-)
