This had great visuals, maybe a bit boring at times, but fairly good demo.

I wouldn't say this were a great demo from fr, but in lack of competition it gets the thumb

Ok, so it wasn't The Popular Demo or Debris, but I actually thought this was awesome.

It's as though Visualice has conceived this vast alien dream world in his mind, and with every demo he gives us a glimpse into different locations.

Aside from the incredible level of creativity and artistic talent it takes to make a demo like this, I really find the atmosphere absorbing.
rulez added on the 2009-04-13 12:31:24 by Wade Wade
The look is great, a bit slow paced sometimes, but in comparison to the majority of the compo demos, this is one for the top three.

This feels like it was just a placeholder. Technically well done (as you expect from FB), but no real appeal in the soundtrack and no storyflow.

kinda farty and uneventful, i liked the musicbox scene but that's about it, don't get me started on the ship with 'werkzeugg' on it
Lol, I just downloaded the demo and found that there was more then couple of scenes. I just fell asleep while watching the compo and missed some scenes, haha! :) So, I should give the thumb up now.
But I still do not like the "epileptic" movements of the crab and the low contrast of the visuals.

One of the best-looking demos in the compo, but not very entertaining. And the animation of the robot crab (or w/e it was supposed to be) annoyed me a bit.

If the window caption is anything to go by, this is basically an aborted 64k project.

Also, no nfo file, no credits (I think), no nothing, which is pretty telling. It looks like they just wanted to get rid of the thing. ;)

Would have worked great as a 64k, without reaching the same quality level as Panic Room. Fails as a demo. Not bad at all, as it shows some nice gfx and scenes.

Can't help it, but this demo lacks some tension badly. Still, the excellent 3D object design make it somewhat special, so it's a piggie.

898kb? Damn, it seems like Ryg forgot to kkrunch the executable. :)

Anyhow, like few of you already guessed - this was supposed to be originally a 64k intro. However somewhere in March we finally realized this was not going to happen. Continued as a demo project since then, but everything being still created with Werkkzeug3 and v2.

We ran slightly out of time, but well - no further excuses. There you have it.

it is very flat, looks like something out of a 2001 demo. The 3D is also very low-poly. And as a demo it is going nowhere.

The only scene I really liked was the music box, and I think that was really the centrepiece of the whole demo. I don't think it's enough for a thumb. The small size is appreciated but FR have done better smaller.
added on the 2009-04-15 01:48:30 by Claw Claw
jazz - "i suggest to break up and form something new creative."

I suggest you look through some farbrausch demos and see that their most creative work is often the most under appreciated by the mainstream who just stop by to check out the top of the month. Anyone who "expects" a blockbuster every time has only seen a small portion of their work, the majority of which is somewhat experimental, and isn't really in a position to make negative comments.

added on the 2009-04-15 06:11:40 by Manwe Manwe
I really enjoyed watching this...although an ending with more impact wouldn't have hurt. But graphics and music are very nice and the first scene has a very unique look and feel...almost like 2d cutouts. So here goes the thumb.
rulez added on the 2009-04-15 09:05:46 by Stebo Stebo
Insectecutor: For me, Farbrausch IS the mainstream of Demos, the most popular Demogroup, no matter how experimental some of their releases are. If Britney Spears plays Jazz its still Britney Spears.
And its a waste of time, because Farbrausch is only at its best when they are doing the all Popular Approach on Demos for the masses. For that stuff, no one can stop them. Its like the Stock-Aitken-Waterman of the Demoscene.

the down flapping motion of the turtle was great, the up flapping motion was jarring and ruined it somewhat for me - I guess it was ruining the concept of there being any medium (water?) it's swimming through. I don't know... i'm confused with this one. The general visual complexity was great, but i strongly missed a musical track. piggy from me :)

The music was really interesting/good, but the animation was not.

As some other guys said, some of the effects had a early 2000's vibe to them, and I don't really like that.

In general, the scenes were nicely thought out (or decent, at least), but I think that the assets were not exploited to their fullest.

With a full repolish, this could be an awesome demo, but in its current state I do not feel that it reached its fullest potential. Still a good demo, I enjoyed it a bit.

Dunno about this one. Theres a lot of hit and a fair bit of miss.. I really liked the way the start almost looked like cutouts although it was 3d, and some of the scenes towards the end were just stunning. But other bits like the music box felt out of place and lacking in polish..
