hi all, I'm looking into the crashing issue. It might have something to do with how I misuse some built in features of MMF to load a vectorball definition all at once in a (relatively) large number of loops for the runtime to handle. A current workaround is deleting the "balls" folder. The only downside is that you won't see the vectorballs on that screen, sorry! I'll see about getting a fix to the runtime soon

Haha, I love the the "turn the disk" part, even the timing of the drive clicks is correct. So this is rather a kind of documentary of the past demo times...

Any chance to get the raw data/gfx for the shadow faces in the last part? They would look great on my Atari XL - maybe with some less offeding text ;-)
rulezadded on the 2010-01-19 00:55:57 by JAC! JAC!
JAC: absolutely. I'm afraid I threw out the original resolution I made for the demo after it was done, but I exported the resources for you. If you want to make similar faces to this, you can run old video clips from the TV show "The Electric Company" through a threshold or posterize filter, which is what I did. http://www.sendspace.com/file/a0674u

Even oldschool effects can be done in a lame and shitty way. Punished for being extremely lazy. The music was partially acceptable though.

pigpen: Clickteam seems to have given my bug report an extremely low priority, so I don't know when it's going to be fixed :(

Calexico: Shitty yes, lame, definitely, but lazy? Try and run a mile after someone kneecaps you and then you'll see the true futility of coding a demo in MMF :)

What is MMF?

Well, there is really no justification not to use proper perspective caluclations in a checkerboard. Even on C64 it would have been lame to do it like that.

Hell, I have seen that done correctly on a VCS2600 and that does only have 128bytes of memory.
added on the 2010-01-28 09:10:58 by Calexico Calexico
so good.
rulezadded on the 2010-01-28 16:46:45 by thec thec
Calexico: Multimedia Fusion, it's a "game-builder" tool with no built-in per-pixel operation capabilities by the same guys who made AMOS and STOS (only it's not an actual language like those two, but a "klik" product where you use the mouse and to define events and simple expressions instead of functions) :)

The checkerboard was a trick, but I can't excuse myself for the 'vectorballs' since if you noticed, they have no perspective projection on them either! (So I guess they're not even real vectorballs hahaha)
