Very enjoyable!

hell yes, wicked bass programming, nice gfx, didn't get much energy from the visual fx but it was moody and some of the synch was really cool after the greets, nice one!

it's a shame that the least visually efficient part is kept to the actual takeoff - otherwise, nice to see some software rendering action again.

Some kicking effects here, esp. for Flash (wish I knew it's limitations at the recent version so that I know the catch :P)

i cant help but think of flash as an inferior platform for demostuff and a waste of resources.

having that said the prod looks very nice, the music sounds like the dubstep reference track on wikipedia (if there is such a thing). the best parts are the greetings and that multi-sided dice thing (looks like a d20 from our old p&p rpg ;).
rulezadded on the 2010-10-25 01:05:09 by wysiwtf wysiwtf
Just WOW !
Dubstep music, great sync and raymarching in flash ?!

Generic D&B and glows. I only like the smooth icosahedron with the ripples.

There's still room for software rendering. Loved the liquid vectors :) (or what is the standardized name for those? :))

while watching I forgot what the platform was. Best Flash demo I've seen.

I have seen most of the effects before, but i always enjoy that polyhedron effect + nice greeting part. It was smooth in fullscreen and that is a plus.
rulezadded on the 2010-10-25 21:56:38 by Zplex Zplex
I really like the greetings part. Rest is not bad but nothing special. Don't like the music, rather boring and generic d&b tune.
added on the 2010-10-25 22:12:20 by StingRay StingRay
WOW .. i don't remember seeing this in the compo (but can't really remember any of them), and \o/ surprise bigtime, awesome, I really adore the norwegian demostyle.

I really like evoflash's style in flashdemos, but this is a lot better in my opinion.

And it's kinda rude calling this Drum 'n Bass
rulezadded on the 2010-10-25 22:34:53 by dwarf dwarf
dwarf: I find it extremely amusing that people who call it generic fail to even identify what genre of music it is. :)
added on the 2010-10-25 22:43:05 by gloom gloom
Find it amusing as much as you like, won't change my opinion about the tune anyway.
added on the 2010-10-25 22:45:04 by StingRay StingRay
I bet you can find a lot of generic music without knowing it's genre.
added on the 2010-10-25 22:51:06 by xernobyl xernobyl
stingray: You're missing the point. You're free to like or dislike it - that's a case of personal preference in music styles and I have no problem with it. It's just that when the _reason_ for disliking it is "because it's generic <genre x>" you sort of deflate your own argument by failing to even know what genre it is. That is what I find amusing. :)
added on the 2010-10-25 22:51:15 by gloom gloom
Or to put it like this: when people on YouTube say "typical trance-shit" in the comment to a Noisia-track, most people who know what trance (or Noisia) is, will not rank that comment as very valid.
added on the 2010-10-25 22:52:32 by gloom gloom
gloom: apparently you have missed the "generic" part in my post, I don't dislike it because it is genre x/y/z as that'd be kinda stupid anyway. d&b was just the first thing I thought of when I heard the tune which is why I mentioned it. these "genre fights" are rather pointless anyway IMHO.
added on the 2010-10-25 22:59:01 by StingRay StingRay
dwarf : The demo was designed by Sander.Focus (dutch), coded by me (dutch); synced and music by Gloom (norsk). 66% dutch and still norwegian style. Damn, those norwegians really do know how to put their stamp on things ;-)

Unitzeroone .. ehhmm alright, well .. mmmm .. not very dutch then, not that great for a dutch colorscheme eh? ;) ..

.. And I do believe I remember som norwegian guy called Sanders from Scene Event back in 2003/04, but yes .. norwegians do tend to make it their style when you expect it the least

also i have no fuckin idea how you did that polyhedron with fluids on it ! ( which is very good, coders always should have sth to wonder about ! )
i just hate how visible your BIG pixels are sometimes !

hardy : it is an icosahedron; it's being tesselated after generation.

A problem with raymarchers in flash is obviously resolution. In an earlier version of this I had an adaptive subdivision of screenspace blocks, but the interpolation routine wouldn't be fast enough at 1024x768 (the original resolution we where aiming for).

Now that Flash will get hardware accell, this will all change. In a way for me it partly loses the charm, because like Amiga's and C64, this little software renderer has it's nooks, crannies and tricks to get things done fast, which makes it a platform on it's own.
musics great.. and if these pixelshadereffects are done without pixelshaders and although with a "crappy" renderer this is atleast a megarulez! doesn't look like flash at all!

WUT. Deffo le bien!
Very good flash demo, not to sboring actually, I love the vector design used for introducing the hard workers.

An other proof dubstep and alikes are invading the scene but I still find it more refreshing than a dnb tune in the year 2010 so yeah, the tune is working quite well.
rulezadded on the 2010-11-03 14:35:18 by knl knl
invading the scene? it's been here for ages boring the ass of everybody. ("shall I put the beat in half or double-time with the wubwub? I might even add an arpeggio line on a glockenspiel preset to be "progressive". wow this genre has so much depth.") but anyway, thumb for demo fx.

<3 the "meta" icosahedron and the raymarcher. The music works pretty good.

The voxelball is fine in itself but it doesn't work so well with the other 2 super smooth and shiny "main" scenes.

Short. Basically 4 effects/scene + some. Could use some color grading.

rulezadded on the 2010-11-07 17:39:14 by pista pista
Oh nice. Great colour and filmgrain effect makes for weighty and warm scenes. The polyhedron was really well polished. On the negative side it was a bit disjointed but whatever.

Great stuff. Really loved the wobbly object. Nice speed too, seemed to be running full framerate at 1080p res (although some parts were clearly much lower res.. but considering what those effects were, fair enough :)

typical demo, but done with flash! worth a thumb up for that alone :)
the raymarched isocahedron alone is pretty nice!
As for the soundtrack, let's say it's typical Gloom style :) Which seems to be overtaking the scene, just because Gloom s'been super active lately (or so it seems to me) but who can complain about a musician being super active!?
