Thanks folks!!

With ASTRA I wanted to escape the classic 1kb fractal + MIDI chords combo and make something more designed, with polyphonic music and actual sync between music & visuals, ...

A few weeks ago I LIVE coded a vector field animation in Warsaw, and felt in love with the technique, so I optimized, tweaked, refined it, flipped between Audio element and the Web Audio API, and optimized close to 200 bytes in the last 3 days.

Use the Assembly's youtube capture of ASTRA if you have any trouble running the online versions.

As usual I will update my site with a technical write up of ASTRA

Very stylish as always!

Audio was weaker than usual, though then again refreshing among the MIDI noise indeed :)

i really tend to pigg it because of the really annoying sound when the color changing bars appear. on the other hand it simply might be high class whining :D again, very stylish visuals in 1k and the sync is great. so thumbs up :)

Beautiful, different. My favourite in the compo, no contest.

p01 magic and style as always. Not really feeling the "music" this time but the particles sure are nice.

Loved to see this one. It felt first like refreshing rain being poured on my shoulders and then those sike-a-delic beepings turned into a showpiece in minimalistic aesthetics.

Smooth, stylish and fantastic. One of my favorite 1k's ever.

Yeah! The musical elements are good enough and go together with the visuals well enough to create the needed level of artistic credibility. As if you could have chosen a soundtrack of any style or complexity (which isn't possible in 1k of course), but you opted for this minimalistic thing as a deliberate artistic choice. Which is exactly what makes a good 1k.

My favorite from the compo. I like how your productions are always very different, yet stylish and yet you are still able to push javascript forward as an 1k platform.

My favourite also ... and definitely one of those intros where you forget that it's a really small file, because you don't really care, because it's a beautiful coherent piece of art that just "happens to be" really small, almost by accident. ;)

Good audio and great sync. And really great that people keep experimenting on different things on 1k

I would love to hear what other music or style could have worked here. Do you mind sharing some links folks ? I have so much to learn wrt to music and sound synth.

Otherwise, I'm super happy to see ASTRA managed to transcend the frame of 1kb intros, at least for some of you.

And as a little bonus, here's the heatmap/source code of ASTRA:

Too much yellow for my taste. There is clearly room for optimization :p
