This killed the demo como, and ended the TRSAC compos with a boom!

Great demo, and great music!

Your demos always looks massive and never bored me off. This is extra polished juicy chunk of meat for hungry demosceners. Visually outstanding, I always admire your modelling skills and pick of shaders. Music perfectly fits into it.

Two thumbs up. Watched four times a row.

There's no doubt this is great stuff, but I'm slightly torn on the whole "using released music by professional artists"-thing you guys have been doing lately. I'm sure you've gotten approval/license to use the music, it's not that, it's just that this (like your previous demo), I think would have benefited from some editing. The music was clearly just used as-is, and that results in some repetition and some lulls in the action. If you had gotten an edited version, or perhaps had a soundtrack custom made for the demo, I'm 100% positive that the results would have been even better. You guys already have some of the best visuals / tech in the scene, so why not also use some great scene music? Anyway, just my two cents. Clear thumb of course.

what gloom said... feels kinda meh from a demoscene stance to do 'random cool shit from soundcloud'-visualizations! ;)

I can't not love anything cocoon does. One of if not the best demo engines technically and visually. Consistently good design. Thanks for setting a high standard to follow.
rulez added on the 2016-10-24 22:44:03 by drift drift
Good showoff of the Cocoon engine as usual!

I still have the same problem that I get on all Cocoon demos though, when running any non-native res fullscreen, the aspect ratio is off. (I think ntsc said that he had observed the same behavior when I commented on it on Terminal 7)
Anyway, since my computer really struggles to pull this along at 2560x1440 I'd really appreciate if you could find a fix for this, at least for future demos.

Get WIllbe back in ;) (and Tenshu to)

2017 -> Cocoon 20 years anniversary! (since the first release anyway)

None the less awesome demo again.. quality!

Exemplary Cocoon production with high visual quality, can't not thumb this up. What Gloom said with regard to the music though.
rulez added on the 2016-10-25 01:14:04 by Alpha C Alpha C
The continuous quality of cocoon releases is terrifying. Great tech! Agree with gloom, though I am not sure there are enough scene-musicians to generate quality in a volume to keep up :)
rulez added on the 2016-10-25 11:49:06 by hornet hornet
what gloom said regarding the music thing, also this one seems a bit more generic on the visual side again.
great rendiering and modeling and all, but i feel theres so much more potential in this engine...

Another super demo from my favourite pc demomakers

High quality steel from Cocoon as usual! Music was sweet!

Is this a machine built by space AI to manufacture metal skulls? It's the next disruptive tech!
rulez added on the 2016-10-26 09:20:36 by rloaderro rloaderro
My first thought after experiencing this great demo was to praise the SUPERB soundtrack, but I see from comments above it's reuse previously released material which taints it with a bit of meh.

But you guys obviously liked it, and made an excellent effort to come up with visuals that match it near perfectly. The color scheme is a bit much on the safe old cyan/orange side.

Bottom line: hard hitting, well synced, head nodding awesomeness!

The program can't start because kernelx.dll is missing from your computer?!

Wow. This is a different breed of cocoon demo. Abstract visuals, sharp sync and a massive soundtrack. Love it.
rulez added on the 2016-10-28 23:11:37 by Claw Claw
The colors are so cliche that it hurts, but otherwise the visuals are great! I don't mind that the music is from a non-cocoon musician, but I agree with gloom that it could have used some editing to fit to the visual progression.

gloom : i think my "workflow" to made a demo is not the best^^ I work without really what I'll do in advance..always adding music a the last time. for this one i choosen the audio less one week before the party^^ But each time we use a "nonscene" music the authors ask me if i want an edited version..but deadline always too close :)
And it's quite difficult to ask a musician to make music and if the result does not fit what I wanted.

if someone has a good music already and visual ideas to use it..we are open to coop (just need time...) :o)

@magellan : i tested the demo my laptop (i5 8go gtx850m win10) it's enough speed in 1280*720 . and full speed with the gtx1080 (thanks solskogen)on my pcdesk.
@sdw : same here :) don't know why. i've a fresh win10...but same think..only full screen un 2560...
@magic :yep :) wait 2017.. the "dream team" come back......

Cool stuff as always by Coocon with a kicking dubstep soundtrack

Personally, my opinion:

+
the look of the materials and fx
good work on code and most of the geometry

-
Scene 1 Scene 2 Scene 3... lack of transitions or concept.
cheap snare in a drum'n'step track

Um, missing D3DCOMPILER_47.dll in my new updated 64-bit W7 HPE SP1 OS installation? So, I had to watch it on YouTube! Anyways, it was decent. :)

Guillaume, please code a last demo for Amiga "comme dans le bon vieux temps"? CPU rocks in Winuae and vampire card ;)

Blast from the past ! Thanks for that video link, I've never seen it before :)
Amiga coding is on my list of "things to do" but that list is already way too long...

Catch me on facebook if you want to discuss.
Best of the demoscene, lately.

The usual great stuff, although I didn't notice any special tech this time (like the smoke, GI, etc. in previous releases).

Oops, thumbs up, of course.

delivers in all departments, again. somehow the shot at about 2/3 time got me where the cam stares right at the cube/sphere thing and just shakes a bit: that was a nice break from the usual fast flybys and somehow more intense. what fizzer said about not noticing any tech is a very good thing in my book. In a demo, tech should support the content, not be the content.
I was about to congratulate the music especially, but since you didn't make it, uh, please pass on my compliments ;) well I guess you have to approach some musicians then... there are so many in the scene sitting on half-unfinished tracks and most would be happy to be part of a cocoon demo I guess. maybe going as far as doing rough visuals first and then composing the soundtrack might bring it to an entirely new level.

i'm wondering why this cocoon demo doesn't get that much attention. in my opinion, it is one of their best of the last years (together with "we stand divided").
