wow ! didn't saw it before today.
I think it's more impressive than spot by exceed... in my mind !
added on the 2000-10-22 by analogue
Well, I liked it but I think spot is more my thing, I find this one a little blocky for hardware acceleration! ;)

Good one though, great music and a nice idea!
added on the 2000-10-22 by ParaKnowYa
well, that demo is nice but using mp3 for music and credits Gods musician for that isn't fair... and the credits are shown 3 time !!
added on the 2000-10-23 by rez
A reaaly nice demo. Good music and good design.
added on the 2000-10-24 by jb
nahh.. not my style!
ripped mp3s (anastasia and star trek) and this kitschy toy-theme allways make me kind of aggressive!!! spot by exceed is 1000times better...
added on the 2000-10-24 by cer
boring, just boring ... at least some groups can do cool demos which are only flyby demos, but toys is a flyby demo, and this one is very boring ...
added on the 2000-11-13 by flure
Sorry to say so, but I can't watch this demo for longer than 10 seconds before I press the esc-button. It just makes me go ARGH! Perhaps the toy-theme with ripped disneystyle-music is a matter of taste though.
added on the 2000-12-16 by heman
This is a very sexy demo. Will everyone please ignore just the fact that the music is ripped and see other things? Have you seen the character animation? Quick, name 5 more demos where you've seen likewise..... thought so.
Jeez, give some props, these guys are Gods! ;)

SMF.

It's true : music is ripped...and then ? A lot of demos are ripped mp3 ! I think Anastasia's theme(not Disney, please !)is one of the most beautiful cartoon's theme...
All of animations were made according to the musics. No demo has the animations synchronized like toys (exept Incoming Future, hehe).
Toys has the best animations never made in a demo...
added on the 2001-02-11 by Liszt
The idea was good! The music was great!!! But the gfx were ugly.. :P

The models are ugly, the textures are ugly and it's slow! And it is supposed to be 3d accelerated..

Spot makes this idea to reality good for the first time but not this one..

It's just that it is cute demo due to idea and music..

thac a real piece of art! it really got me touched..
added on the 2001-03-21 by crs
bah! this sucks. no design, bad textures, mediocre models. also, I got no sound.
added on the 2001-06-18 by fractalgp
Spot=August2000, Toys=March1999.

whaou, beautiful prod
i see it this week end on big screen and it's rocks!
very poetic and well designed land
a girl dream in fantasy land, with cool colors
perhaps a little bit short and without true story as we expect, good music and i dont care if it's ripped, the wohle is coherent
a good prod you must see for your demo culture
added on the 2001-07-24 by Zone (leZone)
"Toys has the best animations never made in a demo..."
Hem Hem :)
Then "just a touch of funk" is not a demo, or maybe it's not animation but rotoscoping or mocap...
Anyway. Nice prod. But what about true music greatings ? (ripped or not i don't care)
added on the 2001-07-24 by fra
ugly models and kitschy topic.
added on the 2001-07-24 by robotriot
Uh, ripping music... you know. But cool modelling.
added on the 2001-07-24 by kb_
I won't say "cool" modeling :) Rather boxes & cyls stuck together. HUGE amount of work, though (it seems)
added on the 2001-07-24 by fra
very bad modelling (specially the cow ^^).
very cool music & idea.
the last part is ok.
great fullsize pic from Xbarr
added on the 2001-08-06 by neurox
Can't help liking it, it's very sympathic. It reminded me of some East European cartoons I watched on Finnish tv when I was a kid.
added on the 2001-09-29 by DiamonDie
Ripped music, lousy models and polygon glitches - not the perfect basis for a demo.

Yet, I simply adore it! Maybe I'm just a child at heart, but I couldn't help being enchanted by this idyllic little world.

Well worth a visit.

added on the 2001-11-27 by Wade^Hjb
Oh dear, this *is* cheesy... Ripped music and a schmaltzy design.

It also seems a little unbalanced. The opening waltz is followed by a misplaced section that at first glance seems like the beginning of a story element or something. Unfortunately, it turns out to be nothing more than overly long credits.

Is it now over? No. The demo resumes with some more hyper-cheesy toy stuff.

I appreciate the amount of work that went into this production, but the concept just made me wanna puke.
added on the 2001-12-05 by thom
Ok, you call it cheesy, but this demo has a certain undeniable appealing charm, and sure the models are not great, but I love it!!! Don't call me a freak or anything, but I thought that this was even better then Spot too.
added on the 2001-12-10 by Nezbie
Yes, it looks like those old shaky software demos without subpixel/subtexel correction.
Never seen that with hardware, except in Incoming Future.
I guess they are doing their own T&L, and their accuracy is not sufficient for this resolution.

But other than that it's a very original demo, and enjoyable to watch.

Thumbs up here :)

My daughter of 2 really loves it.
Nice work!
My Compliments!

good modelling, but these guys should work at disney.. it's not much of a demo.

and about disney: DUS NIE!
added on the 2003-02-11 by earx
:) one of the first demos i saw.
added on the 2004-08-05 by meCh\\bps
It would never have the same impact without the ripped music, sure. But the dancing Teddybear with the big drum is just too cute. I can't help it, I just love it.
added on the 2005-08-05 by mizc
it was cute yeh :)
added on the 2005-08-05 by Maali
COOL! I love themes like this and would really love to see more! So atmospheric!
added on the 2005-10-03 by Shanethewolf
All props to the modelling department, but other than that, isn't this a bit boring?
added on the 2005-10-03 by elsewhere
It's blocky and got ripped music but it's cute.
added on the 2005-10-03 by ALiEN^bf
Just rewatched it now. A different demo, yes, ripped music but quite catchy.
Of course I think it would have been awesome with the nowadays hardware.
And that train... THAT BOUNCY HAPPY TRAIN ! I knew I had already saw something similar in the past =D
added on the 2005-10-04 by bdk
The cow is ugly :) But it's a great demo. This was also God's first PC production iirc.
added on the 2005-11-22 by StingRay
wonderful

I like it most from the pc prods of Gods!
added on the 2006-02-13 by ghandy
Beeing surprised about the "thumb downs" here. This demo is so sweet an unique in its type. Makes me feel like a little boy. Seems some freaks have emotional problems, when rating this bad.
added on the 2006-06-24 by seppjo
great demo, one of my favourites among first windows demos. btw gods had another demo called evolution on pc and it is not in the database yet.
added on the 2006-12-27 by dimouse
It's long and diverse. I don't think this was the best you could do in 99.
The happy music gets on my nerves.
added on the 2007-01-20 by xernobyl
I've always seen this demo like a short film rather than a demo. But I've always liked it too...
added on the 2007-02-04 by Skate
Even if the blocky models in 2007 make you smile, at the end of this, everybody was standing and applauding at the party place. And at the prize cerimony too. Power of 3d... 8-D
added on the 2007-04-09 by friol
it didn't age well, but back then it was the bomb for me.. great anim!
added on the 2007-07-09 by toxie
I like it ! Also that it was the first Gods PC production...
added on the 2007-07-11 by s7ing^ATZ
s7ing: If you don't count Evolution in 97 and Dimension in 98 of course..
