The screenshot shows one of the very few good looking scenes in this software rendering demo.

Btw, code: kozmik? (I hope it's not the one from NE) ;)

Atleast he once told me that he was in TRSI now, working on some demo.. perhaps this one.

Hum... It appears that the particles are not subpixel-corrected, while the rest is...
Why is that?
I'll give you my theory: most code is ripped, particles are not...

you people are hard with kozmik, this prod is nice and smell like an oldschool trsi prod...
it would be nice that you judge a prod for what is it and not for the guy who made it.
thanx for you attention

what an ugly piece of shit. oh and for the particles, some seem to be coming from an avi ;-)

This prod was runned on a Pentium 100Mhz with an ATI Rage Pro gfx card. It's a nice product, but they were many other nice products at the demoparty.

now that I've seen the demo, I'm sure it was the same kozmik :) the overall 2D is ugly as hell, the music is really nice tho'.. can't say much about the code. guess it's ok. antialias is great.

A rare PC demo that was enjoyable to watch, although it crashed shortly after the scene on the screenshot above. Where is the fix? :)
rulez added on the 2003-03-24 21:20:02 by darkus darkus
worked all the way for me.. though i'm not sure the sync was perfect.... the acid-trance ended halfway through the scene with the spaceship over the ocean thingy.. anyways, if i put myself in the mindset where i'm pretending my pc is a circa '92 amiga, this blows me away.. otherwise, the best i can say is it doesn't get me bored, and it does look like a (rather rushed) trsi demo.. so i guess that's good.. but recent amiga demos put this in a bad light as far as design and style goes, so no thumb up for me.. enjoyed it, but now it goes to recycling..
it's still slow on my athlon 850, i couldn't imagine how insane slow it'd be on a 100mhz machine. anyway, where's the "impressive" and "enjoyable" stuff in this demo? and where's the oldschool part about it? the fact that it's a software demo?

tried it at the office, I get pauses between scenes (1-3 seconds), and it still crashes on the screen shot scene. the skeleton was cool, but I guess that's just an avi...
added on the 2003-03-25 08:42:15 by bhead bhead
crashes here too. what I saw wasn't anything special.
added on the 2003-03-25 08:51:22 by dairos dairos
Sorry. I found this uninteresting and quite muddled to look at. Plus the framerate was surprisingly slow considering it claims to have been originally presented on a 100 MHz Pentium.

well it was running on a P100 at the party place & looks really nice & fast.

something about textures...

okay. tried on two more machines. guess what? - crashes on different parts, slowdowns galore, etc. god knows, I never thumbed a prod down for being buggy, but for this one I guess it's time to make an exception..

the dutch opinions:

[11:39] <mnemSTUDY> HOE DAN
[11:39] <mnemSTUDY> hoe kan je zoiets lelijks maken en releasen :(

translation: well.. HOW can one ever make something THIS ugly, and actually release it?

[12:06] <shifter> HOEI wat een lelijke demo is. Verrassend lelijk zelfs.

translation: FUCK that was ugly, surprisingly ugly even.

translation: too bad it's not rush hour ][ - ah yes, that one sure sucked - well, i think this one comes close too shift :) - razor is nothing compared to this

conclusion:
trsi stinks :)

kozmik shows us more of his mAD Sk1LLz.
sucks added on the 2003-03-25 12:25:31 by _ _
While saying that trsi stinks is a broad generalization (well they do as of late, that's true), this crap is mostly due to Kozmik's incredible talent for making crap releases.

As for the equinox comment about it's low-end specs: it certainly lives up to the low, low, ULTRAlow expectations one should have when it's supposedly running on a RagePro card.

Crap. Waste of resources. I want those minutes I wasted on viewing this back!

methinks that it is actually pure hardware rendering, it got mad at me after disabling hw acceleration in the dx settings. and looking at the filesize, plus the fact that the exe has very low compression ratio, methinks it will be full of avi.
sucks added on the 2003-03-25 17:41:36 by tcp tcp
i thought trsi was a 'leet group... it is okay in general, besides the fact that the colors are somewhat discussable and the entire thing is quite inhomogenous; a real symhonic overkill. and why is there need for that 700k .avi with spinning particles ? that could have been done with a particle system (what would be smaller, faster and more flexible)...

heard the music before, don't know if it was originally composed by this group or not.. also crashed.. it was looking alright however..

I have an old S3, no 3D... wasn't this supposed to be software rendering?
sucks added on the 2003-03-27 05:28:09 by jmagic jmagic
I think it crashes/stops actually after the skelleton and I can't see the rest. Some parts are nice and the skeleton animation is cool (though, I just read it's not theirs ;)

Rofl. But why such a low resolution then? To make it look like a sw-rendering engine and to hide it's real crappyness? ;)

I tried to watch it some time ago nut it crashed. Did not try to fire it up once again =/. IMO, I find it as the worst TRSI release ever and it is the stingy face slap on the whole group's history.

I don't know if it's the demo or my drivers but it looked incredibly buggy.. during the elevator music at the end the screen went completely white.
What effects I was actually able to see weren't very impressive, and most of the textures looked awful.
I guess as a first prod by someone it would've been ok, but it should never have been released as a TRSI prod.

This absolutelly rules! TRSI for teh win. I remember being at Kozmik's home when he coded this one, together me giving ideas about the karateka skeleton and me insisting to use some weird plasmas but we thought they wouldn't fit. Then we went for some beer and hookers after releasing this. Those were the times!

I dig the ghettoscene visual aesthetics, it looks like shit in a really good way. The music is crap though, an idm track and slower pacing could've actually been quite fitting.

It's still hilarious though, I was chocking back tears when the midi music started...
