Most of the code is in asm. There's some high level stuff in C too. Text is made using sprites and the platform has a lot of them by default but still a multiplexer was needed for that amount of them. That was coded in C because of time constraints. Code uses LZ4 unpacker for assets and mxdrv.x TSR driver for music playback.
Music was made using text based MML syntax and compiler to MDX format (Conversion from mod to midi, midi to some other MML format and a lot of hand fixing for the notes and lot of trial & error for the instruments).
Development was done using cross platform make based system and testing XM6 Type G emulator (don't use libretro based one as they suck with the emulation accuracy) and real hardware (X68000 Expert & XVI). Transferring to real machine was done via slow null modem cable. Testing with the real machine is a must but emulators speed up development.
