this demo isn't a classic, it's simply >THE DEMO< !!
cdcadded on the 2000-12-06 10:45:30 by rez rez
if you like the music by Jesper Kyd => it's a rip from a c64 music by David Whittaker (Panther).

MY FAVORITE DEMO HERE !!!
How could "the" >DEMO< be ranked second behind that shit of "odyssey" ?
never will know. HUge amount of original effect: the 4 years following this was only re-use of "HARDWIRED" effects.Rez, Only 20 second of the module is taken from panther,If I rember well.

one of the best productions on the good amiga500.....i like it.....
yes this is the demo... owns my ass and much more! it's better than odyssey for sure, it's better than state of the art, it's better than sex!

One of the great classic A500 demos, and definitely one of my favourites. Ok, the "panther" cover could've been removed from the soundtrack, but it's ok otherwise :)

especialy for the first part anim (this kicked my ass the first time)...
and the music has haunted my ears for a couple of years :)

"it's better than sex! " - raver.

hmmm...this might result from a bad technical approach ;)

total and complete utter rulage.

The number of new effects from this demo that dominated the demos of coming years is a testament to it's utter 0wnage.

There have been better soundtracks to demos since, but few demos have had as much influence. I still have to say this is the greatest demo of all time.

(The day I saw this demo, I also saw the Lawnmower Man movie, which had some computer gfx. I haven't really watched movies since, as they still can't compare to a good demo.)
What a demo! Probably the best demo released ever. I still remember the first time i watched it. I was completely and utterly amazed and stunned. UNBELIEVABLE!!!

*The* classic among classic Amiga demos, Hardwired was truly an *event* when it came out. Sporting effects that still feel fresh, one of Jesper Kyd's most epic soundtracks, superb design, and some spectacular 2D art, this demo's influence to this very day can be seen in a lot of modern productions. This is what happens when the creators know they're good at what they do... and do it.
rulezadded on the 2003-08-19 02:38:26 by VindicatioN VindicatioN
I like it! I have the DivX and it rules.
I notice everyone caught Panther by David Whittaker, but nobody noticed the Tubular Bells cover, and probably some other covers in there...
I like the way the music flows from melody to melody.
And the effects are cool too, especially the opening sequence (looks like the game Homeworld copied them)

Im still listening to the tune that has been a normal piece in my music collection for 13 years now.

i saw it in 92, so i comment it like i saw it before
started good but strange with bad feelings, novative
but the other parts are not my cup of tea : like the 3d toilets (this raytraced scene are buggy in lots of spreaded disks, it was hard to find a clean copy)
in fact, i never liked this one, it's and it stay piggy for me
Excellent stuff.

Thx to Steel (and Analogue of course) for the new screenshot, but 400k is really a bit hard for modem users (at least, this demo is worth it).

arguably the most revolutionary demo ever. imho this prod took the demoscene into a new era. just a massive amount of cool innovating effects with great ideas behind them. the rest (design, gfx, music) is also cool, but that's not the special thing about this one.

monroe's comparison with 2nd reality is very relevant. also atari falcon demos had adaptations of hardwired effects for some years.

I'm quite pissed off because of the music rip. This is Panther by Whittaker. Nothing else. How many graphics, music, code were ripped this way?
That's really frustrating. It's important for the demoscene to do some soul-searching sometimes and this side is the dark one. So piggy. I've never thought it sucks though.

I actually paid for this demo, as in 90s there was no internet to download from, dialing onto a BBS was unreal, I was too young for copy parties, and the only person in town who had a copy was that pirate who was charging for copying every single disk (there were no copyright laws here yet).
It was a version with corrupted loo animation, and due to my memory config it was crashing on the sponge scene - only lately I saw the whole thing.
Surely a classic.

happy 20th anniversary (!). I wish I could thumb this up twice!

p.s.: Of course the ST is a tribute to David Whittaker's Panther but I see nothing wrong with that (we all did that back then and everyone knew the tune(s). nowadays not giving credit would be considered lame, though..different times, I guess!) I happen to know the track from his Amiga remix for the game Sidewinder -- came with the (second-hand) miggy I got in '89 :D

Fuckings to The Spy and Murphy for making me waste way too much time fixing their 48 faces glenz vector part.
