..void by b-state!.... Hi and welcome to my first real MS-DOS demo. it was coded for 4 days for diahlt'2o15 pc demo compo and because of lotsabugs I decided to improve speed and release a final version, so welcome :) really booooooring credits: code\music\nographics\nodesign - wbc + useless module player - freddyv\useless some sysreqs? Oh yes, you need at least a Pentium (min p133, max...hmm...core i7 :), 16 mb memory (it can run on 12mb or even 8mb, but I don't tested it) and some nice buzzing device (GUS\Interwave - rulez, SB16 - nice, PC Speaker - crap) no EMU8K support (yes I've hacked PC speaker driver to add covox support and it works, but I'm not so k3wlish to fiddle with AWE32\64 (yes I have one)) It CAN run on something like 486dx4-120 or 5x86-160 but speed...meh ;) and it is heavily dependant on memory speed, so i.e p210mmx@(83x2.5) would faster than p225mmx(75x3) or even p233mmx(66x3.5) (mmx is not required) videocard? Hmm, any VGA should work fine, but fast VLB\PCI\AGP\PCIe\whatever board is really recommended (well it works on ISA VGA, but with slowdons and ugly tearing...and it is really slow in "notimer" mode...meh (can't tested on Tseng ET4000, but I expect that it works on it :) For really c00lish 60fps show you need this equipment: p250mmx\gus or p6-233\sb; 16 of more mb of ram; some fast VGA card (like S3 or Matrox); "notimer" command line switch (see below). Yes, it has support for PC speaker and even mono D\A converter at 378h\278h, but it will require at least p6-233 for 60fps action, and it sounds POOR at sample rates >16000 Hz, especially PC Speaker. It works under DOSBox, use GUS and set cycles=80000 or above and memsize=16 and yes, does not work under Windows because of musicsystem. Here are some command line switches (do not put any dashes and slashes): notimer - disable internal timer synchronization use this on p200mmx+\gus or p6-200+\sb to prevent stuttering and give a nice smooth show ;) noretrace - disable vertical retrace synchronization use this on (p166-p200)\gus or (p166mmx-p233mmx)\sb to prevent stuttering, but it will cause tearing 70hz - use 320x200 70 Hz mode (good old mode 13h :) use this ONLY in case of using mutant lame videocards or monitors that can't even handle 320x200 60 Hz Yes, demo uses 320x200 60 Hz (used vertical timing from 480 lines mode), so it SHOULD be compatible with every piece of VGA crap, but if you have some bullshit VGA card\monitor, just throw it from your window ;) Also don't forget that aspect ratio in 320x200 70Hz will wrong. greetings? so, i would like to send some yeah! to the following groups: (b)yterapers - cncd - fairlight - dhs - dekadence - disaster area - desire crtc - hornet - dennis courtney 5 - gemba boys - tpolm - the cronies thesuper - skrju - consciousness ;) - triebkraft - 4th dimension - placebo hooy-program - z brothers - 7dump - demarche - eye-q - light future - sands tristar and red sector inc.
