  About this demonstration
 __________________________________________________________________________

PsyGazer is the result of several hours of hard work since the release
of our second demo: "Plan B".

The demo was originally intended to be released at The Party 1996, but
since we didn't feel that it was quite finished we decided to wait.

We would like to thank the people who have seen the demo in its beta-
state, and encouraged us to finish it. Thanks.

  Requirements
 __________________________________________________________________________

Processor: Pentium (486 will also work).
Memory : >=16MB (no less, sorry)
Soundcard: GUS(1MB), SB, PAS or WSS (nosound also supported)
Graphics : VBE 2.0 (standard VGA also supported)
  Op.System: DOS (will also run in a Windows 95 or OS/2 dos-box)
  Diskspace: 3.4MB

  Legal stuff
 __________________________________________________________________________

  Two simple rules:

  1. We can and will not be held responsible for this demos behavior.
If anything bad happens when you run this demo, it's not our fault.

  2. You can freely distribute this demo, as long as the included files
aren't changed or tampered with in any way, and as long as no
     profit is made.

  Running the demo
 __________________________________________________________________________

This demo takes advantage of _linear_ truecolor modes (16 million colors),
made possible by the VESA BIOS Extensions 2.0 and above.
If your videocard dosn't support VBE 2.0, you can use SciTech's univbe.

For best performance check that your videocard supports 320x200 in 32bit
or 320x200 in 24bit. The demo will also run on videocards that only
support linear 640x400 in 32bit or 24bit by faking a lower resolution, but
this is slower than using the real thing.

If your graphics adapter isn't capable of using neither 24bit nor 32bit
graphics, your can use the -hicolor switch, which will try to run the
demo in a 15bit hicolor mode.

I everything fails, you can run the demo in standard 320x200x256 in
black & white using the -bw switch, or you can use the -fake switch,
which will try to emulate 24bit using a tweaked VGA mode with 12bit color
dithering. This is however both ugly and slow, so we really can't recommend
  it.

By default the demo will try to use double or triple buffering for smooth
animation, depending on the amount of RAM on your graphics adapter.
If this (for some strange reason) won't work on your card, you can disable
it by using the -novbuf switch.

It is also possible to run the demo in a "scanline-smoothing-mode" using
the -smooth switch, where the demo skips every other scanline, resulting in
faster rendering. Some people like it...some don't.
note: this option works best with higher resolutions.

To run the demo in other resolutions, use the -video or -config switch.
Note however that the demo originally was designed for 320x200. This
means that 3D effects will run in the selected resolution, while 2D
effect only will be rescaled. Also note that a _fast_ computer is needed
  for high resolutions...duh?

blah blah blah...look for more options below.

  Xevius signing off
 ___________________________________________________________________________

It might be a while before you'll see another demo from Xevius.
Blazer is tired of demo-coding at the moment, and will be working on
some other projects. Hideo is experimenting with "professional"
music using midi. We are also working and studying, and our sparetime
is therefore quite limited. However...we might return unexpectedly....;)

  Have a nice life.
