                               INTRODUCTION

If you haven't seen the demo yet, stop reading!! :-) However, if you
encountered any problems while running it, you may find the solution
    below.

This demonstration took part in the Assembly'94 PC demo competition,
where it came third. We would like to thank all the people who voted
it; we hope to keep improving our work.

On the legal side of things, Iguana and everyone who contributed for
the demo will not, in any case, by any means, no matter what happens
or what damage should appear, be liable for it. This software is not
supposed to do anything else than what it does when you run it. Thus
it is not assumed to be suitable for any particular purpose; we will
not assume any responsibilities, expressed or implied, about it. You
know what we mean, don't you?

The package can be distributed freely without modification. No money
can be charged for it, other than standard fees for access to a BBS,
or the cost of the material the demonstration is recorded on. It can
not be used to add value to a commercial product; however, shareware
distributors can put it in their collections, be it CD-ROM or floppy
disks and similar computer media, as long as it's sold together with
other shareware of public domain programs in the same package; never
can this demonstration be alone in the sold package, or be the first
reason to give the customer in order to get him interested.

The demonstration can be used in computer shops in order to show the
power (or lack of power) of a machine running it. If you're in doubt
whether you're doing correctly or not regarding this limitations, do
    not hesitate to contact us.

                             TROUBLESHOOTING

First of all, to run this demo you need at least a PC compatible 386
or above computer, with no less than four megabytes of RAM, a VGA or
compatible card and a hard disk. To fully enjoy it we recommend that
you have at least a 486/33 processor, a Gravis Ultrasound with 512Kb
of RAM and a local bus video card. SoundBlaster, SBPro or SB16 cards
or 100% compatible cards will also allow you to enjoy the music that
accompanies the graphical experience, but not with such quality like
the Gravis or GUSMax cards. SoundBlaster REQUIRES 2400Kb of EMS.

We have thoroughly tested this program in many machines with several
    configurations; for example:

     - 486DX2/66 with 12 megabytes of memory, an ISA ET4000 VGA card and
a Gravis Ultrasound card with one meg, running under MSDOS 5 with
the QEMM 6.0 memory manager, Smartdrive, some mouse driver. Other
configurations on this machine were a clean boot, boot with HIMEM
and no other TSR, boot with QEMM and no other TSR, etc.

     - IBM PS/VP 486DX2/66 with 14 megabytes, a S3 VGA in motherboard, a
SB Pro 2.0 card, with CDROM and Ethernet drivers loaded, the demo
running from a doublespace partition and connected to the network
using NFS. Also, of course, tested on this machine with all those
drivers removed, including a clean boot test.

     - 386SX/16 with 5 megabytes, 386MAX 6.0, TCP/IP and IPX drivers and
shelling out of a telnet terminal emulator, the demo running from
a Novell network drive. However, it looked rather poor due to the
slow processor and the lack of music.

In the infortunate case that you want to run the demo without sound,
you will need to specify a serial port that will be used as a timing
device. You'd rather specify a port with no devices connected to it,
such as a mouse or a printer. We know this sounds really strange but
that's the way we chose to do things.

If the demo doesn't work (hangs or stops with an error message):

     - Turn on your computer and try again. (Yes!)

     - Check that the sound parameters (card, port, IRQ, etc.) are OK.

     - Try it without sound.

     - Try a clean boot without CONFIG.SYS or AUTOEXEC.BAT (no SB!).

     - The SPACE key will allow you to skip parts; so if the demo always
hangs at a particular point, skip that part.

     - Go to a friend's house and watch it there. We're sorry.

                      ABOUT THE AUTHORS OF HEARTQUAKE

This demonstration has been created by some spanish computer freaks.
We all share a common interest in computer graphics and music, which
has led us to join together and create this piece of wanna-be-art.

Aside from that, we're all much like you may be. We all have to eat,
sleep and concern with other biological deeds you know. :) If you're
thinking (let's hope not) that we are more skilled than you and that
you could never get to do things like this demo, probably you've not
tried. You never know what you are able to do until you do it.

All of us are/have been/will be interested in using our knowledge in
commercial projects, especially videogames and publicity. If you and
your company would like us to create a custom demonstration, you can
contact any of us and explain us what kind of graphics and music you
would like to represent your company in the demonstration.

The best way is Fido or Internet. Don't use voice unless you have to
tell us something really important. Also, we cannot guarantee a fast

                          GREETINGS AND MESSAGES

[ Ufff... it's really tiresome, right-aligning by hand without adding spaces! ]
                        [ I better stop it now ]

Capacala: You are the moral winners of Assembly'94. Great show!

The Incredibly Long Haired Avatar/Legend Design (and company): When
are you going to come to Spain?

Alpha/Axxelerator Logics: How's the army doing with you inside? ;-)

Edge/Unexpected: Thank you for being a cool guy and trying to get
        things done correctly.

Zoombapup/Codex: Is there a game coming or not?

Public NMI: We want more sources!! :-)

Stone/Dust: Oh, ehem, JCAB will write soon... maybe... O:-)

Patrick Aalto: What happened to Line Wars ][? I still wait.

Patch/Avalanche: Thank you for the keyboard handler!

Erik Pojar: How was your Interrail trip?

        Now for the harsh ones:

Sonic: If you don't think that you must apologize for what you did
at the Assembly'94 competitions, then you are the worst kind
of lamers. We truly hope we never see your name or faces again.
The best that could happen is to see your group disappear.

Addy Santo: You must give us credits when you use our code and our
music system. How stupid can you ever get to be? We just asked
that you mention us, it doesn't cost you anything. Then, looking
at your work, maybe it's better not to see our name in it.
