Growing Ties

				GROWING TIES

	A game for the Atari Lynx handeld console

					By Dr. Ludos (2019)

================================================

Growing Ties is a game requiring both an excellent eye and a good hand dexterity.

Patrons want to get custom ties.
You'll have to cut them perfect-sized ones!

========== HOW TO PLAY ===========

Press A to grow a tie.
Press B to cut it.
The tie will fall down, and hopefully reach a patron.

Be careful to cut right-sized ties!
A perfect sized tie matches the height of the patron's shirt exactly.
You'll get 10 points for a perfectly fitting tie, but less points if it's too long or too short.

As the levels go along, you'll discover more mechanics explained in the game: combo system, modifying tie colors, limited tie supply, limited time, etc.

========== PLAY ON EMULATOR ===========

This game should work on any Atari Lynx emulator for any platform.
Use the ROM file "growingties.lnx" to play on an emulator.

The game support highscores saving through the "EEPROM save" feature.
If you want to use it, you have to use an emulator that supports it (for example, RetroArch with Handy core).

========== PLAY ON LYNX SD ===========

To play this game on the RetroHQ Lynx SD copy the ROM file "growingties.lnx" on your SD card.

The game support highscores saving through "LynxSD SDcard save" feature.
If you want to use it, you'll also have to copy the file "growties.sav" on a "saves/" folder located on your SD card.
(if the ".sav" file is not present, the game will run, but highscore will be cleared when turning the console off).

========== PLAY ON AGACART ===========

To play this game on the AGACart copy the ROM file "growingties.lyx" on your SD card.
Highscores won't be saved as this kind of feature is not supported on the AGACart.

========== PLAY ON FLASHSABLE CARTS ===========

To play this game on a ROM flashable cartridge, such as Karri Kaksonen ones, you'll have to use the ROM file "growingties.lyx".
Indeed the "lyx" file only contains the ROM data (i.e. what you'll find on a actual cartridge), while the "lnx" file contains an extra header at the start of the file (64 bytes) to make it works on emulators or some SD card based devices.

To use the "highscore save" feature, you'll also have to use a cartridge with at least 128bytes of EEPROM save memory.
As far as I know only Karri Kaksonen cartridge supports it for now:

========== CREDITS AND THANKS ===========

This game is a solo project by me (Dr. Ludos).

However, I could never have been able to create such a game for the Atari Lynx (my first one for this console) without the help of many wonderful people.
So I'd like to thank:

- Karri Kaksonen for producing the wonderful Lynx CC65 Library and maintaining a special build of CC65 that allows anyone to easily create new Lynx games in C.
I also used his template file to start the project, received many helpful advices from him, and last but not the least,
Karri also made a prototype cartidge of my game so I can test it out on my own Lynx II!

- Nop90 for co-creating with Karri the template file I used to make this game, but also for the help and guidance in writing a game for this console.

- LXdev, for his wonderful and thorough tutorial series on how to make a game for the Atari Lynx: https://atarilynxdeveloper.wordpress.com/

- Brian Hall, Albert Yarusso, KevinMos3 and Krip 316 for their extensive beta testing!

- And, last but not least, a very huge thank you to Necrocia, who hosted an Atari Lynx programming competition on his website AtariGamer.com to celebrate the 30th birtday of the console.
Without this competition, I would have never started this project.
