Scene.org awards 2006 thread

category: general [glöplog]

Here are the scene.org award results in case you have turned off the news: http://awards.scene.org/awards.php

.. and of course I started this thread to complain. During the last year I found the jury selection to be quite reasonable. But not so this year:

I don't understand how Dieties could go without a single award. In my eyes it is a demo of unusual perfection, something that has to be acknowledged outside of the boundaries of "taste". Track-01 definitely is not a better demo.

Further arguable points:
-Best music to "winnersong".. ok
-Breakthrough to "iterate". Nice idea, but it would definitely require more polishing. Something that can even be done by newbies.

I think the soundtrack of 1995 fucking rulez.

Deserved to win.

Yeah, TBH I also think it rulez. It just employs unfair tactics ;)

I kindof raised an eyebrow with TBL winning Best Direction (i'm a fan of Neuro), otherwise most results are agreeable. (Right, Smash? ;))

Didn't you get the memo ?
It's not the 'Scene.org awards 2006', but the '5th Annual Scene.org Awards'

I'd have been extremely disappointed had Deities won any awards. But I agree with you on the breakthrough award.

And I kind of agree with Zest. :-P

"Best soundtrack" should have gone to "Starstruck". The rest of the results I kind of agree with actually.

hmm.. relatively low level of complaints... Good job, committee! :)

I think they did a great job, the whole orga team seemed more laid back and confident this year, and the newer more faster approach definitely made it a lot less painful on my ass from sitting on the gallery in the hall.

Also good to see EvilPaul's Old Skool Invitro Maker do the goods! :D

Me too! I've had it on my portable MP3 player since it was released.
I agree with rc55 here. Some people were complaining about not showing the winners in full length (haha), but after "that would at least add an extra hour, where the crest demo show shows them all" some of them were satisfied with that solution.

Leia: This year's concept was great, Pöt was the best host so far and he did show that there's not everytime the need of a well respected scener who gives a speech about his category. The bad video quality to TG is more like "LOL, internet" though it still looks (to me) like there's no stream quality test before the ceremony.

Keep on rockin'!
props for the short ceremony. It was much more bearable than the 2 hour ordeals of previous years.

the livestream to the gathering was one of the funniest moments of the whole party. people were rolling on the floor.

Madenmann/Dipswitch: We got to keep up traditions you know.

Seriously though, we improved about one billion times on that livestream this year. Apart from the audio that is. But try seeing us presenting an award from there any of the years before this one :)

As other people pointed out: the new way of doing it with a shorter show totally ruled. Thanks for trying it out, hope it'll stick for next year.
