Project Giana with Chris Hülsbeck, Fabian Del Priore and Machinae Supremacy
category: offtopic [glöplog]
It's a little bit offtopic but considering how many of us liked The Great Giana Sisters back in the days and since it involves Chris Hülsbeck, Fabian Del Priore and Machinae Supremacy, you might want to have a look at this Kickstarter project:
Project Giana, a modern and modified version of The Great Giana Sisters : http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/project-giana/project-giana
The project looks advanced enough unlike a lot of Kickstarter projects that don't have much too show except promises. Moreover, the visuals are really beautiful. They have 14 days remaining and have still a long way to go to reach 250k (the basic game milestone is 150k).
Check their video and don't hesitate to back them.

Well, they definitely still need some more backers... :)

Sorry for the dupe, I don't visit the BBS often these days.

Oh the joys of having social life :)
keops: I would love to back them, but I have no money - would you give me some?
release at the beginning of october...
the usual production cycle is at least 2 months with final testing, goldmaster and production of the medias, delivering to the shops etc... so the game is allready done
i dont get the point of paying extra money for allready fully financed and almost finished projects.
usually kickstarter should help to start kicking off a project and not
giving some extra money to spend on whatever reasons they can think of and giving them marketing for free.

xeNusion: for consoles games yes but not for digital sales / PC releases since you don't have to go through the whole approval and manufacturing thing.
A lot is usually done within the last few months, sometimes the last few weeks. It's usually when stuff gets interesting and things get polished.
Also, they mention this: "Our game will initially be released on PC, with later releases on Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network".

xeNusion: but yeah, I totally see your point and it's a good point. Maybe they need some last minute financing or something, I don't know.
I know I want to play that game though ;)

It was a clone of Mario back then... now it's a clone of Sonic :-)
i never "twisted the world at a press of a button" in sonic! ;)
I did in that weird "Tak 2" platformer on the DS. You've been switching between a "dream state" and the normal world. Or Soul Reaver, where you switched between realms. Imho an interesting gameplay element.
I'd like this kickstarter to succeed, only to listen to the music then. ;o

I'm too old/mature for platform games. If I ever play anything, it is strategy, adventure or RPG.

Kickstarter is now the go-to pre-sell channel of every small geek hardware and indie game company. It's probably not exactly what the creators of kickstarter intended, but that's how it works today. At least financially, it's a win-win so far.
xeNusion: after reading again the description, it seems it's 2 months to go for the basic version of the game then one more month for additional content if they reach a bigger milestone on Kickstarter, which makes 3 months in the end.
Elend: indeed, I'm really curious about the soundtrack :)

ooh shiny!
hArDy: you never played Sonic CD, did you :-) (well, not exactly at the push of a button, but scenario change resemblance is extreme, saving the obvious age differences)
Ok, everybody stops, we already reached the point of BEST QUOTE EVER.
Thank you Adok!

I bet adok's too old for ice creams also.
I bet even Adok's mom doesn't want his too old/mature dick up her ass also.
Well, I'm in for $25.
And I know it's "cool" to have a go at Adok, but lets just stay on-topic instead of engaging in an all out Adok shitfest. The guy is barely human. For one thing, his vision is based on movement, it'd probably be better off if we remained perfectly still.
So yeah, $25. The game looks pretty decent. Yep.

Sorry. I've already sold my sole (to go to X, it will be worth it) but if I had anything left to sell, I would support it. In wone case...
Don't fuck it up. Don't ride on the name of fame. Don't do crap in the name of nostalgia.
Please.
When i get rich, I will donate, no quastion about it, but in the meanwhile: Inovate. We need it.

Keep up the f'good work.

To answer the question, why it's on Kickstarter: Well it was a project when Spellbound was still around, then they went bankrupt. Now they made up a new games company with the same people, named Black Forest Games, and want to do this project without a publisher (if it becomes funded), so that they have free hands to design the game like they want, without the decisions and demands of a publisher. Hope this clears things up. :)
I'm in for 50.
Hopefully this will be out by the end of this year. As well as Magical Drop V and the Toki remake (I'm looking at you Golgoth Studios!)
