how about launching executables?

Sorry I haven't played much with Chrome extensions :p
I suppose trying to open a tab with the URL: file://path/to/the/demo/blah.exe will work.

JSYK here's the FileSystem API

well in firefox it's a bit of a pain but it's possible - the only trick is that a) you cant specify a working directory (lol) and b) if you decide to use cmd.exe/start.exe to do so, it automatically escapes all parameters with double quotes whether you want it or not, so it takes a bit of convincing to do the right thing (trial and error galore!)

i can provide the dutch language translation:
Code:*knor*
I <3 this thread if it inspires someone other than Gargaj to do work. : D
Sounds like you have to use NPAPI to launch external exe files: http://developer.chrome.com/extensions/npapi.html

Came across that after a bit of hunting on StackOverflow.

Would be pretty sweet if the plugin embedded the youtube video (if available) into the page on the fly :)

I think the point was to make the exe version more interesting, NOT to finally switch pouet over to be a yt frontend. ;)

raizor: Good idea. I already have a userJS that shows the screenshot of the YT video on hover. Should be a piece of cake to embed the YT video itself on the page. I'll try to wind this up tonight.

tomaes: Surely there's room for both. Many people don't have a the right HW to run demos and the video capture is the only viable option to watch them. It doesn't beat watching the real thing, but that's better than nothing.

FWIW I wasn't thinking of doing that in the plugin, but in a userJS. So no cannibalizing of the plugin.... only of the Pouet.net

Holy shit this is great stuff. I installed Firefox again just to be able to use it, and apart from a few error handling things (odd filenames) it works GREAT! Please - someone port it to Chrome!

I realize the irony in me just dropping "someone please do it".
