DOOM IS COOL!
tmb: Actually, even though the MPAA probably agrees wholeheartedly with RIAA on a lot of things, the right thing would be to accredit that "quote" to the RIAA.
If you want to be funny re-using someone elses _actually_ funny work then that's fine, but at least be smart about it.. and stop posting pictures in this thread -- there is a differet thread for random timbaland images.
It's called "Random Timbaland image thread". Seriously, it's not rocket science. :)

whatever :)
I honestly wonder what kind of brick hit commenter #2 in the head:
That means you're stealing under the context of simply not trying hard enough. What did he think they'd do, shout a bit in the parking lot and reason it was a lost cause?
And by now it ought to be clear where the rightful author is. No words on the bag of riches I'm sure these do-gooders kept aside in case he was found...

Sometimes an artist would like to license usage for the song sample but cannot find a way to contact the person who holds the copyright.

he actually does not condone sampling as such though, i dont think he meant it serious anyway.
anyhow, i have a strong fear that thom's prediction going to turn out right... :(

old64scener: that song is probably two or three years old now and not even properly released (meaning on a label) as it is sort of a funprod of a funprod-only-group. nevertheless it's a good example to show that timbo's not the only dude out there who likes to sample from chiptunes without giving credit. which is wrong..
By the way, has anyone noticed that Acid_Jazz.sid is the 2nd file in its HVSC directory, which is the 1st directory under "Blues_muz" directory? Quite superficial browsing, I would say :)
maybe he was just listening to nectarine...
I bet hempest never expected to sudenly become known as a finish DJ or producer last year ago :D
a relatively good summary.
Heh. Some loon has started another "Do it"-thread at Beat Club -- listen to this garbage:

also incase any of those "people" some how reads this
you dont have to pay for a sample if you are not releasing it commerically so for example if i was to right now use a sample and make a beat but never to release it to an artist of some sort then i dont have to pay jack.....
also tim could had paid the man under the table like alot of ghost producers they make beats for bigger producers and their name isnt in the credits because they get "paid under the table" downside to that is if the track went platnuim then you wouldnt get that money from it but hey if someone threw 50,000 in my face i would take that you never know the track could tank and you wouldnt get too much of shit

Then again, if people came here and started posting the same shit as in youtube, we'd flame the hell out of them as well.
it's been a few days since tempest shed some more light on things from his official page...
leia: Yeah, it's really the exclamation mark at the end of a horrible line of argumentation. :) Also; I just _love_ the whole "look, if I took your sample and never released the song I didn't do anything wrong LOL!"-argument. I mean .. what the hell? Yeah .. so you took a sample and never released the song.. and.. soo what? Timbaland DID release the song -- in fact, he did it _twice_! :)
Preacher: Of course, but at least (I HOPE) we would have managed to come up with some better shit to say than that up there. :)

New article, currently providing a nice attention-grabbing headline as the first result on a Google News search for Timbaland...

(A new slightly odd spin on the story too - "look, the waveforms look the same and everything!")

gasman: Yeah, I didn't get that one either, but it was in the comments, not in the main article (thankfully).
Some YouTube poster *cough* posted:
From the way people are talking about beats, it looks like it's slang for music loops. Probably derived from Hip-Hop and/ or Sampling. They're not talking about the more distinguished separation of instruments and channels you're used to ;)

Why does so many people keep talking about the beats? This isn't about the beats, it's about the melody and the background arpeggios.

Saying that the waveforms look the same is a bit of a language abuse. But it's right: if the waveforms didn't match you would get some signal degradation and not a boost.
Shifter: It looks that way. God forbid we should ever use the different musical terms for what they actually mean. That would be a rootn' tootn' shame, eh? :)
xernobyl: What on earth are you on about now? :)
