Is an Amiga bootblock where only the first 128 bytes are used (i.e. the remaining 896 are zero) eligible for the 128-byte compo?
But zero IS an information! ;p
is that so?
Paid my ticket o/
First music act was announced yesterday, see our events page :) The next announcement will follow tomorrow!
you should get timbral to do a set, that wild shit was awesome!

I'd love to make that happen, unfortunately I have no idea if he is planning to attend the party this year. I do know we'll be announcing a few more music related schedule changes over the next few days, though ;)

@Blueberry, Havoc: for your question about putting a 128 bytes demo in the beginning of an Amiga Bootblock, and considering 128 bytes Atari ST demos were accepted as 160 bytes files, i started the following thread http://pouet.net/topic.php?which=8111.
Maybe if we can have all infos your prog will be accepted as 128+n bytes entry instead of a bootblock, and that would probably be better for users? I hope i'm not totally off the mark.

That is the plan indeed- 128+n for header. It's interesting to see that some people are very vocal about not considering such files to be 128bytetro's, and claiming that this wouldn't fit with demoscene tradition- They're clearly overlooking the fact that this particular competition is an Atari scene tradition, and that these rules have been in place since at least 1998, which is a long time before some of the more vocal "opponents" joined the scene. Opening the compo up to other platforms will make it hard for the compo team to check if entries followed the rules, but as Blueberry correctly notes, cheaters will be caught at some point, at which point we will ask our Fanta back.
Yeah, orgos have the final word! ;)
One thing that would help bust cheaters would be to ask for sourcecode to be released!
I propose you update the compo page to:
128 byteS intro
* Your entry can run on any platform. If the hardware is not listed above, please bring it with you.
* Your entry must be 128 bytes long + system header

sourcecode for a binary-sizelimit?
If I come by bike, will I get in free?
Baah: I'm gonna leave the decision to change compo rules to the compo team, they might not want to change the rules this close to partytime. But what you write has been common practice at Outline since 2004, so no worries, I'd say ;)
ile: zaxe beat you to that one last year, he got a free coke and shower on the way back home iirc :)

I also wanna request that if anyone is bringing a demo which requires emulation (i.e WinUAE) if they cannot bring their own hardware then please ensure you bring along a working emulation setup for your demo. In the instance of WinUAE ensure you provide at least a configuration profile that will run your demo.
ile you will get a free taste of whatever I have on me at the time!
As for user convenience for an Amiga 128b, I think actually a bootblock will be easier than an executable, since an ADF or DMS disk image with the bootblock on can be opened directly by WinUAE. If it is for A500, it can even be opened using the default configuration.
It's 10 days before the party starts, and another two performances have been added to the Outline Events page, this time it's gwEm and A-Me and Frankys Fucking Freaky Fabulous 80s Spectacularium, and there's more to come in the next days!
