Pilgrimage @ /.

Well, of course Rasmus, who wouldn't. Somethings are cost-prohibitive for alot of us, but if I have to opportunity to hit up a local demoparty and one overseas in the same summer, you better believe I'd take it. :)

so you are coming over to SCENE EVENT ?

I would love to come to Scene Event some time, but this summer I am going to be at both Assembly and then later Pilgrimage. I've been studying alot on the Finnish culture (both from books and friends) and have made some pretty serious investments in some audio tapes and talking to friends in an attempt to get some of the basic Finnish vocabulary down. :)

In the future, I am giving serious consideration to making Breakpoint 2005(?) the next overseas demoparty that I attend.

Why are you waiting till 2005 for your next overseas party? Keep in Europe and come to Bünzli and Evoke. Both are in August, both are reachable by plane or via train, and both are in the free non-communistic part of Europe.
Oh, and don't forget to visit 0a000h, which is at the end of the world were no plane and no train goes to. :)
come to Europe a week or two earlier and goto SE2K too. I've heard they have VIP tickets for usanians.

I'm familiar with the ingredients of Salmiakki, yes. :) I suppose I'll get more acquainted with the others soon.

hahaha..

actually.. moominvodka was moomin soda mixed with vodka.

the only reason for this was to get it past the security. and it worked.

"hey look at those stupid norwegian with 5 moomin soda bottles, no need to search those"

There's not much on google really on moomin -- what type of soda is this? A normal fruit-flavored soda? Or something more unique?

Ok. Anyway. Wow.

Dude, wow no I'm just going to go over here and be really really stunned. Seriously. The.. Try the google thing again. Really.
To further clarify, one might find a ton of info on imaginary creatures that live in the woodlands, but I don't believe that's what this beverage derives from... Of course, I've been wrong before...

ps: you should never underestimate the power the norwegian sceners possess when it comes to creative ingesting of alcohol. :)

radman: actually i'd love to come to the us for a demo party (after all, one time has to be the first one), but it's a matter of cash after all.

Third, almost every worthwhile demoparty I can think of has been on Slashdot at least once

Seeing you're rubbing shoulders with Dreamhack and TP... can I point and laugh now? (TG is forgiven by now, or so I heard) I'm a proud WOEST attendee, the only party where Farbrausch won crappy snack sausages.

Not completely off-topic, why is it that the Northern American general area has such a complete overfocus on Assembly? Granted, I've never been there myself, and I mean to remedy that in a couple of weeks... but all they seem to really, really *kill* or get the hots for is goddamn Assembly :)

That's a fair question and I'd personally like to see a few other fellow Americans speak up to answer this question. There has been a recent thread on where demoparties originated from, but some people simply assume it was, or give a large amount of credit to Assembly -- which is pretty much a demoparty turn massive festival.

(IMHO) Ironically, it's probably for the same reason that people (outside of the scene) think of Future Crew as the best demogroup, or ACiD as the best ANSI group. There is a great deal of name recognition behind Assembly, it's in it's 13th year. Assembly has given birth to arguably some of the best demos ever, and besides that it's just plain fucking huge. :)

And to top it all off, Assembly has quite an impressive roster of speakers lined up -- it'll be an honor to see and meet them.

So for me, personally, I'm going to Assembly because that's the place I've always dreamed of going to. I need to get this accomplished first before I can get a taste of Breakpoint or anything else. Believe me, I would have done it much sooner, but this is the earliest I could afford it. (It ain't cheap!) :-)
