I wish Plek proved useful once in a while and said something like "Choke on your goddamn Pilgrimage spams, fool" :)

Lucky us, in 24h we will get rid of those redundant Pilgrimage threads :)

uh
radman: i know you couldn't help yourself, but let's be honest - pouet is eurocentric and thus noone here gives a flying fnck. much like the porky's disco invtro.. except pilgrimage will have fewer imaginary people in attendance.

Hey, if only my humble PA28 (that's an aeroplane, in case like anyone knew I was a pilot) had a range of a gajillion miles, I'd be there, but what a shame, seems I am only allowed to fly in Europe and Florida (that's right, Florida is nice, Louisiana and that other bordering state are big holes full of mofo's that won't let me hurtle through their airspace.. Goits...)

Dear European Scener

Pilgrimage starts tomorrow. If you don’t know already it is North America’s demo party. We don’t have many parties, or at least we don’t have as many as you do. It has been largely a European hobby and sport. I for one love being a North American scener and like to watch European demos. Believe it or not I even get a little bit excited when Assembly swings into full session even though I’m not attending. There is this word that used to hover around and once in a while it resurfaces. That word is spirit. The human spirit propels us to create and the scene spirit causes us to be imaginative - to push the limits of modern computing and digital arts. Perhaps that’s why it bothers me that European sceners aren’t very interested in Pilgrimage. Maybe it’s the fact that it’s only in its second round and they’re waiting to see if it can stand up on its own. By no means do we expect Europeans to travel all the way here to attend! It does seem to me however we’re the ones that get the discount at the door when we go overseas with glazed eyes on looking the big screen.

I think it’s shameful that European sceners will whip out their cock when we get excited about our events. I thought it was the American’s that were arrogant. Was I wrong?

Sincerely

Dear Patrick

I am an european scener. Contrary to popular belief, I happen to be interested in North American parties, even if I can't attend. I'm quite happy about the fact that finally someone organizes a decent demoparty overseas and that people will attend that and bring cool releases. And of course, parties need advertisements, we all know that - especially since I'm kinda a support dude for an upcoming hungarian party. Perhaps that’s why it bothers me that even though the two parties might be comparable in size, Pilgrimage seems to be faking itself ten times as big as it currently is by overloading the Pouët BBS with a new thread for every godforsaken change in the compo rules and such. Face it: Neither Assembly, nor Breakpoint (which I consider the two biggest parties at the moment) needed more than 2-3 BBS threads - and those ones mostly included discussions, rather than just announcements. (We have news portals for that.) By no means do I imply that advertising an event is bad. It does seem to me however a new Pilgrimage thread every day is getting annoying compared to the fact that even the organizers assume 200 visitors at most. (That's ~20-30% of Breakpoint, not considering "scenishness".)

I think it's dull to be so blatant when it comes to advertising. I thought sceners, American or not, were senseful. Was I wrong?
