Well... Pilgrimage is over. The 1st place demo is rather good, although there was some evidence to suggest it doesn't work on ATI. (Yet.)

The above production wasn't the only release worth viewing -- average quality was a HUGE increase over 2003.

In other news, I now have my first experience struggling to finish a 4k intro only moments before the deadline. (Actually, we were 10 mintues over, but nobody said anything. And someone even voted for us in the compo!)
thom: there's more than evidence, it's a known fact. and the ironic thing is, these are the same guys who won a radeon9800 last year, but it's broken now. so if they won another radeon, then again, a final version will be forthcoming and you probably won't see the party version released.

Umm, yeah. I sorta clued in on that, as did everyone else at Pilgrimage, when they spent ten minutes swapping compo machines.
Any place I can get the releases or releases or even party pictures?

Anyways, good to hear that Pilgrimage was pretty succesfull =)

Awards finished at about 1 AM local time, followed by an after-party or two. I imagine Legalize and crew are still snoozing and/or cleaning up right about now. Everything will appear soon enough.
thom: I did a bit of after partying, but the hotel was so whiny and I was so tired that I just decided to call it a night at 3 AM. The next morning, I woke up around 10:30 AM, took Tom Forsyth to the breakfast and then the airport and headed home. It rained like hell on the way back from the airport! Then I unpacked the shit out of my car and have just been relaxing.

To all those who submitted entries to Pilgrimage 2004, YOU ROCK!. (That means you, thom!) The attendance, the atmosphere, the camraderie, the quantity of entries and the quality of entries all surpassed my modest expectations!

BTW phoenix, shouldn't ATI honor the warranty on that older video card? Or no?

Hey Radman, did you get my mail? It's concerning the spreading of TI Roms.

rm: if you ask gz nicely, you might be able to get a video clip of the demo from him. however i think part of the reason the release is delayed is because they want to fix various design bits.

thom: just fyi you dont become officially a demoscener by attending a demoparty or releasing a prod at one.

"officially"?

So wait, if I really want to become an "official" demoscener, I have to idle 24/7 on #coders, and thumb down every production made by new groups, right?

Ok, I see how it works now =)

There's no such thing as an official demoscener. You either are a demoscener or you're not. No one can appoint it to you.
