Whats up with this pc demoscene wannabe amiga scene?

category: general [glöplog]
The TBL demos are not on an average or low level, they're great. And not only because they've been produced on an Amiga and we miggy fans celebrate them on parties or where ever. I admire the beauty behind them, the art and hard work which is inside.

Yes, about 90% of all new Amiga prods are crap or kinda average. But no, the TBL demos rock! Maybe you pc freaks should learn to stick together a bit more and to celebrate a good production...

wtf is wrong about being enthusiastic in the moment and maybe say "BEST EVAH" there and then? If a demo makes you feel that when you see it, it must be a very good demo anyhow.

As there isnt possible to say what demo is the "BEST EVAH" anyway due to different taste, knowledge about coding etc etc it is allmost impossible to have a list with the best demo ever. The best at this very moment is what is best!

I have to agree with ManJIT. To impress me now days with a pc demo (due to the lack of limitations ;) ) it needs a lot more than some "nice 3d". Glowing ellements in a black enviroment with endless flyby`s just isnt enough.

Right Proteque!! And those TBL demos make me being totally enthusiastic.

I forgot to add that also around 90% of all PC demos are crap aswell if not more!!

Funny, I've always thought that 8-bit demos generally look and sound better than their pc/amiga counterparts. If you create beauty under serious restrictions, you need to concentrate on the very essence of it.
stefan is right.

Fuckings to you for no new VIC20 demo!
Stefan: Make better demos yourself or STFU!

quite naturally stefan has leading but, well,

who cares?

let them be man. i've recently been talking to people who actually still code the very same effects over and over again on an ATARI and damn they're nice chaps.

So stefan has leading? I don't follow this forum frequently enough to say if you're right. This bbs always after a few days of reading frequently does go on my nerves. F.e. when people begin writing senseless shit, doing worse jokes or have their fun because they amuse themselfs about other users here.

But when it comes to this discussion I must disagree with him and you. In this case Stefan does not have leading, at least in my humble opinion. But better a harsh written statement like in case with Stefan, which was meant seriously. That's 10.000x better than senseless or trolling stuff.

And yes, people coding on dead machines in commercial aspects, like c64, Amiga or Atari are a bit crazy but most of them are nice chaps - agreed!

i'm glad the amiga-scene tries to copy the pc-scene, where else would those poor outdated amiga-coders get effect-ideas from?

now if only the amiga diskmag editors could copy their pc & c64 counterparts and come up with some decent articles..

why the hell people think that oldshool was well designed .. or even imaginative ... most of the demo made in the 90's were fucking ugly : horrible colors, rotating objects ans so on... I think demos improved a lot visualy during the last 5 years.
