ASM06 - 3rd to 6th of August 2006

category: general [glöplog]
The 15th ASSEMBLY event is coming. The party will take place in Helsinki, Finland from 3rd to 6th of August 2006.

You know the drill. Get your ass over to Helsinki, do a demo, get drunk, fall of the cliffs, and blame everything on the security! =)

The main organizer advertises the shadow party - that's the spirit of the scene.
Yeah. We'll be there with a bunch of releases :)

u_u

The Boozembly needs its own security staff to protect us from the evil Assembly security staff.

I got so many fuckings for not being there last year that I'd better not to miss asm/bzm again.
Damn, I wanted to keep the asm-count at 10 visits...

rubicante: there are these things called "airplanes". They transport people vast distances in a short time. I think wikipedia might have an article about them.

Btw, how evil are the guards nowadays when it comes to booze from car to bzm etc?

The last times i visited (not last year) they got worse every year, acctually confisicating booze from people. I dont have to tell you how much it sucks to loose your liquor in a monopolized country of scandinavia.

So, will the sec. stuff have orders from Abyss and co this year to steal liquor from foreigners paying lots of money for visiting ASM this year or will it be cool as it was before?

I say that they do it with orders from the organizers as it was ordinary "good guys" who took it (for instance the voice).

I dont feel like visiting a demoparty again where you have to sneak around with alcohol as if it was some kind of confirmation camp.

Nosfe:
Our nice security staff doesn't intentionally harass anybody. However, the neighboring area of the Areena is legally our responsibility, so we need to look after you also =). Besides I really don't want to see headlines like "drunk teenagers killed at Assembly".

Last year there was one occasion where some rules from the police were in the beginning more strict and this led into the situation where people passing thru the Areena grounds weren't treated as well as they should have. Once the police changed their minds and gave us new instructions there were no problems.

So to be clear: alcohol is forbidden within the Areena, in the parking garage (and other similar Areena facilities like the elevators etc) and in the immediate vicinity of the Areena. You are allowed to walk thru the Areena's outdoor areas with booze (keep it in your bags!) in your possession from the Pasila station to the cliff as that is the only way to get there, but you are not allowed to try to bring any of it inside the party place.

Oh and btw, our rules are based on the laws and the police's instructions, not at the whims of me or anybody else.

At the end of the day we are legally liable for anything that happens at the Areena or in the neighbouring areas. I'll rather play it safe than appear in court to answer why something happened.

True story from last year:
Somebody from Boozembly had been heavily drinking and had decided that he needs some sleep. Well, he found a nice place to sleep and decided to just lay down and get some rest.

The place where he was sleeping was a drive way directly into the parking garage. He was lying in a downhill spot with dark clothes on asphalt, so he was very hard to spot.

The next morning a member of the Areena personnel was driving in to the garage. Luckily he managed to emergency break his car before driving over this fellow.

I'm not kidding you. That could have ended very badly.

Having guards who "checks" that people are still alive is a good idea, the problem is when they confiscate liquor from visitors because they walk from the car to bzm with it.

But you ARE saying that the cardecks are OK to carry liquor this year? (Just want to make sure its a part of that "outside Areena area")

Anyways, if it is true that we will be allowed to carry alcohol from car to bzm without hassle i will definetly try to get there, esp. now as it is on my bday again :-)
