Demosceners and MMORPG's?

category: general [glöplog]

im actually surprised no one mentionned the fact ryzom has seen some ex french sceners working on it (for example, hulud and moby)...

oops.. i did it again.
Haven't you thought of the idea yet that the demoscene might itself be a massive multiplayer (online) role playing game?

no. it's more about a role boozing game.
"u must kill mobs all the time if u want lvl up"

Monk, you can level up by doing quests as well, by discovering new areas etc., and you totally missed the point - if you just want to hack and slash, yes you can. If you want to roleplay, you can. Noone is forcing you to level up or even kill stuff. If you want you can just wander around town with your level 1 character and roleplay. Just like a pen-and-paper RPG your experience depends a lot on what you yourself put into it, and what people you play with.

"Trying to Role Play on WoW, surrounded by 'l33t' players that are 'lfg' and telling you that you are a 'neewb' is not gona immerse you "

Dbug, I don't know about WoW, but EQ2 has an /ignore command.

Mermaid - i just know mmorpg's from Silkroad. But i think rest are same (after read some forums about these games).

Quest's are just bring something to someone or kill x (nuber there) mobs. No real pen-and-paper RPG feeling. You can talk with others, but u cannot play a role in fact.

And even if you will say - interact with others can make you for example guild member.. there is almost no profits (you can just help other ppl this way kill x mobs etc, no exp from it itself). More numbers than role playing.
