It would be nice if at least they would return i.e. at your e-mail something wich explains the "motivations"... anyway as usual this can not happen in real world... for a series of factors...
hm.

I can't complain because Mr. Dark and Long will beat me :)
I think the awards were nicely distributed. But I think that Bugtro should have won in it's category, and Perfect Love should have something too.

I second Nosfe. Streaming on the way. I suppose there are some better productions.

broderick, yes that would indeed be nice.

oh well, decide for yourselves if this would've been too long and boring to watch during the compo:

broderik: Yeah, that's not realistic. Take the music compos with up to 150 entries simply hearing each entry once completely already takes 8+ hours. If you would write critics for each one, that would probably take several DAYS ;)

scamp, yeah but in compos where the number of entries is not so big that would be quite possible to do.

in music its much more clear that the selection is just based on the musical taste of the jury with some random factor (it's clear that if there are 150songs to choose from, the selection is based on quite quick first impression)

comments about productions could also just be optional, so that only when a juror has a strong opionion he would say it, like "i'we always hated this noise shit from nosfe and it doesn't deserve to get on the screen"

oh well, this party still rules but the fucking flu that has been haunting me since wednesday sucks big time. fuckings to germs.

germs are evil.

nosfe: I've got lots of anti-flu drugs here, if you need some... and sorry for your entry, didn't see it yet - but you know yourself your entries often aren't mass compatible and cause people to be unhappy during a compo ;)

Nosfe is a fuckin whiner, what about starting to produce quality instead of this crap that can be massproduced by everyone.

Harsh, yet true! You can't blame organisers for turning down low quality releases.
i would like to know the reason why the != video didnt got played. perhaps submited to the wrong wild compo, still would have been nice to have it relocated instead of ignored. it looked pretty nice on statix mac atleast.

time, mostly.

we try to get an approximately 1 hour long wild compo.

Nosfe: look at the bright side - no people on stage.

gargaj, i made the video to be so short people wouldn't have time to get there.

early feedback would have been nice.

I'm in Nosfe on this one. It's not about ranking high or low... it's just about getting what you spent good time on making on the bigscreen for everyone to see.. And this is the reason I don't bother any more to make music for music compos.. after some Disqualifications during preselection. Now I can understand that keeping the competition short is essential considering the limited time frame...

However... Nosfe's entry was 11 seconds long! I could dedicate 3 or 5 minutes to watch a prod by Nosfe.. let alone 11 seconds..

Finally, loads of respect to Nosfe who despite having a very bad history with preselection keeps on producing stuff.

I can see that most people dislikes noise prods. And I agree that for their usually slow pace and long times they might clash with the expectation mood of the main compos.

But aMUSIC (Nosfe really) has a point - 11s.
And not even in the demo/intro compo.

Even if that would have been 3 minutes, it's more about expressing and sharing. Getting people to the stage at least means there was an effect on the audience :)

What I see emerging is a model where parties act more like film festivals with a curator deciding on what gets nominated. Each party has the color it deserves.

i think preselections is... well, good thing when theres too much contributions... but honestly, i don't know the juries from BP, but they should have:

- allow nosfe to compete

- let _good_ music enter the compo. i was terribly bored with the UC UC style of almost all tunes! i didn't get the german hiphop neither, is it because of i don't speak german, maybe? =)

for reference, my entry which was preselected: http://pouet.net/prod.php?which=24526

In compos you can only have a subset of music called "compo music", designed to please at first the first listen, as well as being able to stick in your head on that moment too. It's a very precise exercise, very close to what pop music must reach too, except pop music has another restriction, which is being able to be listened to again and again.

You see this happening with demo competitions too.

why do you say "preselected" when you mean "not selected"?
because "not selected" is not cool :)
