I just discovered by mistake that the pouët.net httpd listens at port 8080 as well. Not there is any harm in it, but nevertheless, WHY?

That's because ps is a huge star wars fan.
Thank you am-fm! Instead of worrying about port 8080, I sat down and made chiptune, with the name Camvliez.

nitro2k01 > so you're calling yourself gameboygenius ? :/
Guard][an: Do you think it's an unsuitable name? Someone called me that once, and I decided to make a gimmick out of it.

What is port 8080?
added on the 2007-05-31 13:11:59 by Optimus Optimus
Optimus: In TCP networking, every protocol has its own port that it listens to for communication, http (Web pages) is using port 80 normally, ftp is using 21, etc. But you can also listen to non-standard ports. One common alternative port for http is 8080. You can try it by adding :8080 to the domain part of the URL, like this: link me beautiful

Skrebbel: I answered your comment on the blog: link me beautiful

optimus: 8080 is for non-privileged web servers and star wars fans.
