I have a newbie guestion...

category: general [glöplog]
I would like to know, how the hell you can code your songs to these 64kb intros?! o_O
I've wondering it since I knew there's some ppl doing it.

hint: the hardest step is always finding out what environment you can work in. :)

Gargaj is right. Just don't try TOO hard. If you FAIL, try doing something else. Repeat until you don't fail.

the most important part is really trying... now a random image regarding guestion

That article by kb is great.

if you don't feel like writing your own synth and stuff, the simple way is ufmod+xm or fr-v2+v2m.

nehe tutorials should be erased from the history books...

They offer a simple way to get into it, and that's what counts for most people. Getting some results fast boosts inspiration and morale..

the hardest part of writing a softsynth is to make an interface that musicians (read: not coders) are able to use.
trackers proved that that's not really necessary ;-)

Misthema: if you're new to the demoscene, starting with a 64k might not be a good idea, the learning curve is very steep compared to the one for a demo without the size constraint.

On the other hand, you will learn stuff you would not when coding a demo.

sparcus: You obviously never worked with a softsynth that a coder wrote before being beaten up by his musician.

I hate musicians and their tendency not to like composing with a hex editor.

oh yeah and do you also hate graphicians who hate drawing artwork with a hex editor?
smoking is bad.
@rasmus: just do an interface that is musician related.. i.e. based on real hardware synths... better, ask musicians about what they want... I won't complain, bypass got good synths, I was just lazy to step to them :p

Ok. Thanks for guiding. If I'll just start with demos :P

If there's any musicians, do you have any sample-filled-up sites to suggest? I have few good samples and DLLs, but I don't like to make many songs with the same synths and stuff.. :P And what rmeth suggested, that fr-v2, I would like it to work on Madtracker2. I downloaded the VST version (that MT2 supports) of it, but it didn't work :E

Just suggest some good tracker sample sites :)
