has anyone ever attempted to make a demo for one of these things

category: general [glöplog]

my 4 year old nephew got one of these consoles for christmas. it's an interesting little thing. but, i was wondering if anyone has ever attempted to make a demo for one?

i'm doubting it. but, in my opinion it might be a cool little thing to make a demo on. such as going through tunnels and things and allowing the person to select multiple routes to follow in the demo. sort of like a way of expanding a demo. not to the point of making it a video game. but allowing the person to be in the demo going down tunnels and things like that and be able to get to points in it where they could just branch off different ways in the demo and that would tell what content is next. but, still be mostly movie like than game like. idk just an idea or something to talk about.

well maybe they should be. ;x. but, it was just an idea. you'll make demos for every other console. but, when a new idea comes up everyone it. now im not saying you go off an interact with everything. i'm just saying more like having multiple demos in one demo sort of thing. but you can pick what is shown at some point in it. even if it's just once or no interaction at all could still apply and the thing is pretty cheap as far as any console goes. it's targeted towards young kids. but, it does feature a camera in which you could put a person into a demo. ;x just an idea. i was bored. i'll stfu now.

If there's any good way of running homebrew on it, it could be a possibly cool (unique) VJ tool though. It all depends on what it can do though. (How powerful the CPU is, if the cam image can be processed by the CPU, or if it can only be overlayed, etc)

Please no. Sometimes it's hard to make jumps to go to certain effects!

I never understood what the hell the point of doing demos in *real time* is if there's no interactivity. Who gives a shit about file size. If it's static, you can do better with a movie.

Like others already pointed out, interactive demos do exist. But more importantly, there are no rules for making demos, if someone wants to do something different then he should just go ahead and do it.

hexen: execute the ideas instead of exposing them and you'll have alot more positive feedback ;)

Well that's simple enough -- trying to get people to make interactive demos! ;)
And let's all make games and switch to gamedev.net!

I don't care what people do. but, i will remind you. that you guys that you do currently make games as well. so game category or another catergory it was just a question asking if someone had attempted to make a demo for this thing. if not that's cool. if so that's cooler. but, it doesn't matter either way. i've just got a million questions to ask. so, i attempted it. i'll probably do it again eventually wether it makes sense or not.

Except ofcourse that farbrausch can constantly be slammed for not making Debris 2 or give us Werkzeug 3.
