Considering how hitchhikr had his share of fun dissing endlessly that nice event, Gloom's answer is probably quite correct imo. I would be less patient if I were him...

Excuse me ?

Maali: Well, that "attitude" is reserved for people have done nothing but bitch and moan for ages; even repeating the same already answered statements in different threads just to keep the bitching and moaning going. So yeah, whatever. And of course this isn't the way I articulate myself when "representing the demoscene towards 3rd parties", but then again; nobody at Pouet really cares about that, since it's much more fun just to sit on their asses and throw shit at anyone who isn't.

What's the fuss - NVidia sponsors party, party has great releases - probably everything will be "normal" next year - can we stop this damn discussion already, and the, let's say, DO DEMOS?

hitchhiker: why do you care - you didnt participate did you? so nvidia wont be making money over your back if your accusations were true..

dunno if groups had to conform to certain rules beforehand (e.g. during uploading their final demo) that nvidia can use their stuff for commercial intend.. otherwise they still need to ask permission afterwards. so in either way there's no contraversy imho
I never accused anyone or anybody, nor i never said that it was good or bad in any case or post. At most it would be ironic from a certain point of view and nothing more.

k, i had better used implication rather than accusation.. semantics..
i'm still waiting for africolascene...

I haven't mentioned the implications yet.

What i have in mind is that if the nvscene party would be held again next year and would be such a productions syphon, what will become of traditional parties like evoke and buenzli ?

hitchhikr : what prevents *you* from releasing anything at Evoke or Buenzli ? Surely not Gloom or Nvscene.

why would it be so again? I guess that NVidia wont be handing out 60 new demokits every year ;)

Puryx: good point.

we had a simple form on the uploading backend where people could opt in or out to certain stuff, like having the demo used in post-event reports and stuff. 95% of the people opted in.

just few words. The party was amazingly cool. We had a full hd screen in a realtively small room that was making it's apparent size quite impressive. The averge quality of compos was amazing with some brillant entries. Everything went very very smooth, no one single problem or glitch during the event and compos. Some outsiders came to see what demoscene was, and they all respected, admired and enjoyed our way of making and valorating demo-art. We had good food, goond temperature, good companion. Many european and american demosceners were together for the first time. We had great seminars. You had all those other activities of nvision just there to visit if you wanted. You could stay in the party place all the time if you wanted, we had fast compos and rob_is_jaring. Thanks to some people iside nvidia being enthusisastic and the work of the nvscene orgo team all this was possible. If you didn't came to this excellent party, I'm sorry.

Now, on top of all that, the demoboxes were distributed and perhaps some of the demos will be shown at few hw exhibitions... well, I wish I was THAT good as to see my demos in such events. Also, I could just not care about all that, but in that case I would have nothing to complain about, just not release anything and nvidia will not have any of my demos. In fact I regret so much not to have released anything there, shame on me.

the party looked great from the various reports, but if we're allowed to criticize from a totally passive external point of view, i would say that the outbreach side could have been better during the party and inside nvision08 : no demoshow kiosk, and the overall feeling sounded like "here are the demos made by sceners for sceners and nvidia"... i wish nvscene could implement a way to show the compos to the whole nvision visitors, a bit a la Assembly : during the timeframe of demo compo (usually late in the evening/night anyway) all other nvision stands/halls would shut down so that most people turn their eyes towards the real show ;)

Forcing the compos on everyone would be a very bad idea. If they are interested they came and saw them, if not, well that's their own right.

zoom: i don't see it that way, at the assembly most gamers gladly comply to the 'kill all audio and lights' message to watch the compos, that's the best respectful behavior towards prods and their creators, and the best pre-compo waiting feeling :)

hmm zest, just wondering, have you ever been to assembly?
