stolen ideas scene

category: general [glöplog]
Hello,

I wonder if the demoscene ideas are stolen or just saled. Because, the last night , I've seen an advert and , strangely I noticed than the same effect is use into a demo. Maybe I am a little paranoiac , but for me they use in this advert the same style for write the text than into this ( beautiful , long life to cocoon ) demo

I love the demoscene but too often I think that the ideas is reused in tv spot , and for the music is the same thing.
I think that the demoscene is the best place for creation and news things, for computer , and animation and musics too.
I hope that these ideas "stolen" are saled and not just stolen.
I lolled.

I wonder who sold all the TV/Movie/Vidclip ideas used in demos to the sceners. A clever guy i guess.

Vector graphics and typography of this style is very popular everywhere at the moment. You'll find that a LOT of adverts look like the one posted.

The "Illustrator style" is in at the moment and it's just like when designers went crazy with lens flares and Photoshop filters many years ago.

Ok, I admit that my post is very bad.
But after your reaction , I don't understand why this post exists.
If you don't care about this reusing of your effect , why not all the demomakers give their codes ?

Ok , I will stop to say some crap , it's maybe because a must code a linked list for my school ...
can i has brains too?
LittleWhite: Ideas (unlike productions) cannot be copyrighted, they can be however patented. music is not an idea, it's a form of art the musician worked hard for. timberland's case was violating copyrights.

I KNOW I WILL NOW GET RAPED BY PEOPLE AND WILL LINK TO THE "DEMOSCENE HERO" THREAD. SPARE ME PLEASE?

ok, serious answer:

There is a difference between stealing music and displaying text in a style which thousands of people are using since ages.
Search for "kinetic typography" on youtube adn you shall be enlightened.

Crazy patent!
Just you can maybe now patented the plasma effect , and other demo effect :D ( It's a joke , don't beat me :) )

@LiraNuma : I agree with the fact that the music can be copyrighted and not the ideas, but the video can be copyrighted, and I demo can't be assimilated like a video?
@zoom : Maybe I didn't took the best example , and I made a confusion because I am more into the demoscene than the real world , so I thought that this effect was invented in demoscene :).
Can I patent farting?

sorry trace, God did that already.
LittleWhite: I found nothing similar between the video you posted to the demo you're pointed out to.

@LiraNuna : I was certainly totally wrong when I post this message , and under drugs when I found a similarity between the video and the demo.
I strongly suggest something like this for pouet.net BBS posting.

Dear LittleWhite,
I'm the guy who made the text animation for the Sandbox Punks demo by Cocoon.
My inspiration for this style of kinetic typography was "Hip Hop ?" by Hocus Pocus featuring The Procussions.
