Leaving the scene

category: general [glöplog]
nezbie, just keep up the spirit, i dont know how serious your heart problem is but been (and still am) in quite similar situation - some muscle/chamber/whatever of my heart is fucked up since the very birth and so at once they wanted to put me in hospital and use a lot of medicine but somehow i was too deep into scene and music to care about it so i refused to go to hospital and skipped the medicine part to buy new 5.25" disks and records and just went on sleepless coffee nites, extreme partying and tripping and ofcourse druqs - ain't as good for heart indeed but it got used and grew strong and look at the man now, he's one of most hardcore sceners around and his heart gives up just after 3-4 sleepless (speedy) days'n'nights..

not that i am saying this is the way to go but to tell you that faith and scene do help :)
be careful with your motor.

on a side note - its dumb to leave the scene cause you can do whatever you want within it. smash yer computor and be a scener!

hm.. is the sceneing all you do? I love the scene, but it's not like it's the most important thing in my life.

Nice to see that at least in this thread the more intelligent part of the pouet users is writing after all this bullshit in the last time.

For me the scene is the meaning of life. It's indeed probably more rewarding than any other scene and you can be what you want. No one cares what you are thinking or wearing and that's the way it should be.

Demoscene is 4 life! :)

Hi TUO, I hope that you will enjoy your life :)

Personaly, I'm 32 years old.
I've been active on the Atari ST scene from 1987 to 1992, then switched on the Atari Falcon until 1995, and then totaly stopped all scene stuff because I started working.
In 1997, I reappeared at the Volcanic 4 demo party with a small (bad) Oric Demo presented in Wild Compo category, and since then I've been doing Oric demos almost everyear, and have been visiting a lot of parties, meeting a lot of people, and chating on IRC.

And I _love_ that.

I know it's weird for "non sceners" people, but it's the life I choose.

You don't have to leave the scene, you can just act like an old fart, booze at parties and think back of the golden age (1994-1998) and tell everybody things where better back then

(like me)

Crest: "No one cares what you are thinking" is good, but "I don't care what anyone is thinking" is even better. :)

Hi there everybody...

Well, Crest is right here...
It really seems that in this thread people/sceners are finally keeping faith together and respecting themselves...

This is REALLY nice to see...sometimes I also wasn't sure if this would stil be part of today's scene I started enjoying in the 'good old days' in 1984...

And although I know 'NeZbie' just from reading several posts from him here I'd also like to wish him all the best from my side for the future!
It's surely a VERY hard task if you find out about such a 'personal handicap'...so I was pretty sad when reading his first very emotional post here...
Hope you'll get well the best you can in the future...and that this won't 'annoy' you too much and you can learn living with it...and growing OOOOOLD as everyone else... ;-)
Simply keep your faith and believe in what you do and in the/your future!! This will surely give you certain strenght as well...

It was and is really nice that sceners here paid as well a lot of respect to your post and are standing behind to motivate you...
That's also what SCENE and SCENE SPIRIT SHOULD BE MEANT FOR!!! Great to see it STILL exists...

And some words still to tuo:
Well, I'm also SURE that you will be back sooner or later! ;-) Seeing all this here in this thread surely gives something 'special' also back to you I *BET*...which reminds you back to the day when you had a definite REASON to join the scene finally...and had LOTSA fun and friends all those years then... ;-)
You can never get rid of that kinda feeling completely anymore and THIS will bring you back some day ... ;-D
Bye...with GREAT respect to this thread ...Weasel

...and *always*: KEEP THE SCENE SPIRIT ALIVE !!

nezbie, im very sorry to hear about your condition. and i do hope you'll get past it.

just out of curiosity, and i hope im not being offensive here, but should future treatment(s) fail, wouldn't it - if you find a suitable donor - be possible to get a transplant?
or alternativly get some heart-aid installed (i know, lame choice of word) ?

When I get my economical and freedom from my parents, it may be inside 25-30 years old. Perhaps not too early. But I don't care when I see people of 30-40 years old in here who still find the demoscene the best thing in their lifes! Even if then, I will want to go to parties and find friends and booze and stuff! Something to get away..

This thread is refreshing :)

Demoscene is a friendly subculture, an underground society for every crazy weirdo out there, a subset of our real world's society which prooves to be hostile to the free spirit. Not that demoscene has not the bad things of our society, but it's diferrent and more free sometimes. The last hope, when everything goes like shit in my life. I should forget everything and just go boozing at demoparties all around the world!!!
added on the 2003-01-31 14:11:33 by Optimus Optimus
Using "subculture" and "subset" has a negative meaning. I don't subscribe to this.

I don't see why being married, having childrens is more "normal" than deciding that deciding you don't want to participate even more to the pollution of the world and abuse of natural resource by bringing new human beeing on the surface of earth.

Differents point of view, certainly, but I don't consider that todays occidental way of life is particularly normal in the grand view of things.

So, being a geek is not so bad after all.

BEST WAY OF LEAVING THE SCENE IS BY KILLING YOURSELF... =D
