nah. releasing crap on the internet shouldn't be allowed just because one can ignore it, there's a reason why they don't release such shit on demoscene parties. but well, that's imho. i guess we are just living in a times, when any stubborn enough kid with basic coding/demotool using skills, can release prods. i'm far from 'let it be elite' attitude, but damn, 10 years ago we didn't have so many trolls...

i guess i'm just too fuckin' old.

make a fucktro about it, add it to pouet, and then i'll delete it - just to bring things full circle :)

okkie: i know that :) i was just curious where this discussion will go, and apparently half of it went on 'BITS are crap' vs 'BITS are nice, don't like it - don't watch it', and other half went 'pouet needs a change' (hell, that sounds almost like we need obama - HELL NO). kinda interesting.

if you want to have somekind of 'quality' selection of demoscene prods then start a blog and blog about good demos there.

nosfe: The "lists" feature on pouet is quite a good idea (but somehow way too hidden). Give those users a "bbs-like" thread (in which no-one else can post) and let ppl. vote for the list
(or at least one (editable) message per prod so ppl. can see why that particular prod was added to the list).
advantage: content stays in the pouet db and does not get lost like many of those "temporary" free-host websites.
ah, and maybe add the top five or ten lists to the front page.

unic0rn: well, pouet just reflects mankinds nature. somehow. the fact that the internet is sooo "anonymous" makes it easier to "say" things but IMHO this site is rather harmless, actually. Honestly, has anyone here *really* ever been offended by anything anyone said in the BBS or a prod comment ? If you can answer yes to that, check yourself first.

gargaj: I must tip my hat to you, you really seem to be a good admin. Please don't delete anything, better find ways to hide the "crap" but IMHO even a lame prod is better than no prod. Besides that, I think the BBS should only be visible if you are logged in. And Google shouldn't be allowed to index it ;)

ever since that flash-anim-debate (where i made a decision and it turned out to be a mistake) i feel hesitant on deleting things.

you should delete users who ask for deletion of prods!
added on the 2009-02-23 01:06:20 by nosfe nosfe
we could use the wikipedia system, and have votes for deletion!

deleting prods is censorship.

and so is banning active people.

yep, it is.

well, it may be too late to un-delete the characters that fell victim to the recent pouet "cleansing". hope ya don'T delete their re-incarnations :)

No censorship. People with skill will make clear what is good or not after it's upped here, if lamers thumb it up, the skilled ones will still recognize shit when they smell it ;)

(turning off oldskool terminology, lol :P)

There is a difference between censorship and "Why did you send us this old shoe? This is a used book-store!"
added on the 2009-04-03 07:11:24 by gloom gloom
I sent the god damned shoe in because this is the fucking clueshoppe.

And the shoe is useful for hitting people in the head who think that the clueshoppe is a used bookstore. It makes a nice 'thud' and, when applied repeatedly, can help relieve stress caused by politicians describing one thing as another, then continuing onward as if a lie is the truth.

Also, it was used in Come Clean.
