Preacher: Yeah, but you seem to forget that most mac users aren't trendy hipsters, but complete dorks these days. I'd say the people who probably gets laid the most (in the way we're talking about here that is, not the "fucking my wife for the 11th thousandth time even though I hate it"-kind) doesn't even use computers.

It's all about having a grand mansion filled with bunnies and/or playing in a famous rock band.

I wasn't exactly serious, you know. You're completely right about the complete dork thing, though. But that's why I like macs, they're made for complete dorks and act like home appliances and don't need reinstalling drivers or compiling shit for.

Things just breaks too easy on linux. I fear upgrading to a newer version, so I don't do that. Main reason I switched from linux/freebsd to mac, plus it has nicer ui.

Are you kidding? Everybody uses computers these days. Even people who shouldn't. If you don't use computers you are looked upon like a person who walks around in two left-foot shoes, the exception being if you're above 80 and are living in a retirement home.

El Topo: Hugh Hefner has people that uses computers for him. Keith Richards has heroin and money (for more heroin). Why would he need computers when he has heroin and money?

pigman: na, I just let breakin compile since he runs windows. we code together using different os. the OS part almost never comes into play, but nvidia vs ati does ALL THE TIME. and I blame ATI. (I run nvidia on linux and breakin ati windows.)

Some people are just masochists and make it as hard as it can get for themselves... ;)

Rare: Yeah, if they just stayed with windows they could've used d3d and not have to deal with these ATI vs nVidia issues...

It is ridiculous to link to DX on Windows, force people to update that shit or deliver the latest DLL yourself with the demo and then complain about needing to install a new SDL lib which is automatically delivered you your lazy ass when you update the next time.

Quote:
SDL is NOT DirectX for Linux.

So then what is the equivalent of DX on Linux? OpenGL? Just asking...

BB Image

My point is that it is harder to sizecode for Linux, bcause there's no DX equivalent.

Reading the BBS I get a different impression though. Lots of people complain about drivers, different supported functions etc. every so often, though DX is not as bad as OGL in that aspect.

There is none. And if there were, it wouldn't be a pure user-mode shared object, like SDL is.

Your impression is wrong.

Also, its very important never to make up ones own mind. And change is certainly impossible...
