POUNDS-OFF: The demoscene weight-loss platform for the lardy!

category: offtopic [glöplog]
It's "easy"* to lose pounds but it's very hard to maintain your new weight.

I wrote a weight / food-tracker utility last year which helped me lose ~24 pounds -- but in the end (6mo later), it all returned and I'm (almost) back to square one.

Another year, another attempt..

..and you really gotta be physically active (bicycle rides, daily exercises).

*easy=it's fscking hard

ever since the site went down, i started losing weight again... finally that curse is broken!
Didn't even know about this until now. But I lost 14 kg in the last year by dropping sugar and booze. Then Covid helped with another 3 kg. After that I've been slowly regaining the 3 Covid kg's though.

Hadn't thought about this site, but yeah, for health reasons needed to work on something that could also be done in tandem with weight loss.

So through largely diet changes I've down over 40 lbs (18 kg).

Weird seeing my face get thin. Ran out of belt notches on the inside.

Not sure I'm where I want to stop, but yeah, the level off to try and stay there will be interesting.

It's sunset time - the pounds-off server will be shut down by tomorrow

Thank you all for losing/gaining weight and for the fun times we had. Sadly, I have no time to rejuvenate the project.

Cheerio lardies

ah, thats a shame, I've lost half a stone so far this year and was about to update my progress. Still many kilos to go until my 'goal' weight though, but cycling and walking 10+km a day is slowly getting me there :)

Indeed, it's proper diet AND exercise, must always have both for the win. =)

Rumours said that lifting audio equipment upstairs and downstairs for bcc parties might aswell do the exercise trick. But who are you, who never had that weight problems at all, Gunnar >:-( ;-)

RIP. I was still using pounds-off into this year, thank you for maintaining it as long as you have!

Danzig: Actually, i did, until sometime in the mid-90s. =) (I wouldn't mind having more regular subwoofer lifting than once a year, though.)

I have been fasting for over the month, twice in the past decade and I didn't loose even a kilo of my stomach. It surely is not metabolisable pill mass, after my enforced psychiatrist mistaken my ass with a pancreas. They all should be tortured there at NHS...

Congratulations, you have forced your body into a "state of emergency" ;-)
(instead of disposing superfluous materials it will accumulate them, in case things "get worse")

You have to eat *enough* but never too much ("schnitzel koma" as we say in my country).

* disclaimer: not a doctor, but I've been through this

I live very active life. I drop away some like 10 tonnes of stuff in a storage, manually, weekly, for 15 years. It is not going away as it didn't. 20kg of inmetabolisable plastic in me. it will not go away, as it doesn't burn (biologically, I mean maybe it will burn only in a fire...). and I will not go for liposuction to the same Frankenstein that made it to me!!! I don't want anything even worse.

:-( maybe we're getting old ? I gravitate towards +15kg compared to my (slim) teenage years and diets don't really stick.

At the age of 41, all these institutional sh&t$, starts overlapping.

In my case it is clearly Risperidal Consta + Orphenadrine. 20kg of immediate overweight ad hoc. UK medics. I don't name it doctors.

School took sanity. NHS took health. Church took good name. Workplaces took ability to work. Army took my nationality. Family took my own family. Hyperspace took privacy and safety. Government took my money.

I still can drive, play and code... 'cause I never institutionalized myself at this.

Never had time for this though. I've been working my @$$ to the bone for above benefactors.

for me the solution seems to be: breaking the habit of eating a lot for lunch which also helps to get rid of fatigue during afternoons, having a sensible size dinner and not including "just the bit that wife didn't feel like finishing at the restaurant", not having weekday beers/wines, stopping snacking.
