Middle of nineties i was a co-siteop of one of the TOP eu sites.
I could give some info how to things went on my side and the scene side, especially here in Finland. And in EU/US too. Got account top sites like cls, pdm, hbd, rzr, myth, flt etc. Low level formatted my HDD couple of times.

All of this were made on 2400 baud modem.

Seems to fit the scope - send us an email and we can discuss the options.

I had an idea a while ago that would probably be suitable:

"Following the micro-level evolution of demo styles and platforms by wading through masses of demo productions"

The topic would be both highlighting the emergence of trends following famous "big" releases and the subsequent evolution of both effects and platform limit-defining software tricks, whilst not forgetting the divergence a mainstream acceptance of a style of demo design causes, giving birth to alternative approaches which aim for different, even polar opposites of those designs. My thinking is that the only way to clearly understand it is to watch _almost_ everything that's released.

Seems fitting - could even go on the "academic" track. The deadlines are there! :)

As a kind reminder: the deadline for the abstracts (not the full articles yet) is in nine days, so don't forget to send your proposals. We have a nice selection in the works already, but there's still room for more. Feel free to ask here or through email in case you're unsure about the suitability of your topic.

cool thing. would it make sense to revisit some old articles about the state of the scene in specific countries, upgrade and submit them? have a couple of them written about the portuguese and serbian scene for some issues of pain that would be cool to upgrade and turn into a paper.

Fine by me, as long as it's a significant upgrade and not just a republished old piece.

Marq: I guess what I've already sent you suffices the requirements for an abstract. So unless you tell me the opposite, I'll keep silent for a while. In any case, I'll see to it that I manage to get the paper finished by end of November.

Guys, if you have anything you could contribute to this, please do it. I think this could be a great outreach for the demoscene.

...which seems to have gotten tainted, unfortunately.

I write only about things I have a clue about (diskmags).

Nice to see our demos used in academic analysis :D not exactly something I would have thought ending up seeing them in... :)
