Great style. Simple but beautiful.
dead download link
i love the visuals very much, the music is also very pro but didnt catch me somehow.
on a final note, i dont have anything against homage-tros to great artists (at least not if they are as well executed as this or BETA), but if this is going to be trend for trying to move oneself closer to "real art" its doomed to fail. nobody on the outside will take demoscene stuff more seriously now, sorry :P
(note that im not saying demoscene productions arent art or that this is the intention behind the tributes)

total geil! thanks way for expressing this.. the colorchoices esp. awesome.. i also like the geometrics used in here..
it's okay. and.. @wysiwtf nice "read".
Love the shadow, the palette - combined with the music it's a very pleasant watch.
kunst
i liked the style. more 3d detail wouldve helped though, also after checking up with the referenced artwork, i feel it could/shouldve been more detailed to play more with the shadow effect (which was kind of the gimmick afterall). the big city scene for example was quite good! still. nice experience!
proper download link (take 3?) http://scene.org/file.php?file=%2Fparties%2F2011%2Ftum11%2Fdemo_highend%2Ffr-075.zip&fileinfo (which technically doesnt actually work yet) X|
thumb goes for the music
Music was very pleasing...
Merkwürdig :)
Nice "drawing style" rendering. I agree with Maali though on the shadow effect.
The choirs gives me the chills but the visuals haven't convinced me :( dispite the fact that Theo Prins' paintings are enjoyable.
stunning! wow, i so love this, the visual style is neat but the sublime beauty of the music really propels this to even greater heights! Fantastic, one to re-watch again for sure :)
Someone didn't have enough time for doing the camera work :)
Nice xmas music. Passed otherwise.
i have to admit that i like it, some outlines could have been a good addition though
when i saw the screenshot i thought "YES! finally some npr!", but then the actual product is basically just blending an animation where the shadow should be and it's not exactly subtle so in a lot of case sit just feels like there's a big hole in the rendering and i can see through it. maybe decreasing the opacity or making the mapping worldspace instead of screenspace would've been a good idea. another point of contention was the direction - sorry wf, you're a way better director than this, pun intended. the ending shot is done really well but otherwise the cinematography and editing just feels rushed. (and since it says party version, it probably was.) that all said, i'm really looking forward for the final because well done conceptual stuff is so rare that i cant not appreciate it.
innovative ART production.
boring, sorry...
Oh so pretty.
Beautiful.
3d flyby?
Nice one
Honestly, it looks like a final, 10-years-too-late mockery of old kolor demos. ;)
Honestly. it looks ace!
The "handdrawn shading" is interesting, but would fit more for still pictures than for a 3d flyby.
Shading and atmosphere make this demo worth seeing.
This was different. I am not sure if I'd watch it again though because more action is lacking but maybe this is not the purpose of this demo.
not really my cup of tea, but nicely executed (apart from obvious observation that nothing is happening...)
not really my cup of tea, but a change from the ordinary is good...
It's always freaking hard to try and translate a two-dimensional style into 3D and it doesn't totally succeed here, but I do appreciate your general approach. The atmosphere is really enjoyable overall, probably due to the great music (which btw reminded me of this somehow http://youtu.be/s0krxH0dWhU).
I'd like to see more like this, perhaps with a little more polish!

+ concept
+ music
- this moving lines with no real variations get boring.
Overall very good prod.

This is beautiful and moving.
boring but innovative... weak thumb up.
Please pass this demo on to revision 2012 for à alltime top 10 FR demo ;) thumb for doing something different!
I liked the music, but overall this just didn't grab me. I was a little disappointed, somehow.
So, Le Petite Prince is now dead, or?
Very very enjoyable, very cool music, very nice style. Thumbs up for Wayfinder! :)
Great!
Nice inovative style, but need polishing, Those painted flashing surfaces of lines wasn´t pretty. Thumb for your great music score, as always.
nice shading, wasted potential

This was my main problem with it as well, i kept 'switching' between seeing a hole and seeing a shadow :/
But ace work nonetheless, great music and visual style and loved the ambience! Nice work!
it was really nice, but the pencil lines should have gotten more variations
Reminds me of http://pouet.net/prod.php?which=75
interesting style!
Just like Gargaj and okkie, the shadows marred it for me.
Also, am I the only one reading "inspired by the art of werkkzeug"?

Nice music! ^-^
has a lovely vibe, I was completely engrossed in this prod watching it over the stream... <3
beautiful, touching demo. made with love.
I like the idea/style and soundtrack, but it's somehow missing a good/funny storyline...
at first i was like "this is a bad flyby", but then it went ok.
Great concept
Okish.
Definitely my taste.
Great visual style and awesome music. The pencil lines are a bit distracting, though? A bit more variety or faster cycle through the frames would have helped... maybe.
I'll just point out that this should've placed in top 3.
Rules just for the shading. Which could be better, the shadow parts look a bit isolated from the world somehow.
what moqui said
i liked the concept / the visual.
this good prod.
this good prod.
The screenshot of this looks awesome, but watching the demo was no fun at all. It felt like you're just switching through some 2D textures for the shadows and that totally ruined the experience for me. With a different way of putting the shadows in motion (don't ask me how, maybe some frame-to-frame coherency in world space?), I would've loved this.
OK, that different and interesting. It wasn't my type of demo, but I will give it a piggy!
Interesting visuals, but maybe not utilised to the fullest degree. Nice ideas too, but it just kinda falls flat and doesn't manage to offer anything that interesting. Less than the sum of it's parts.
Good music, odd visuals.
Wow, I really didn't like this at all. 3d flyby with a very uninspired pseudo-NPR look. Best thing was the music, but that doesn't safe it from being a thumb down for me
Music is brilliant. Rendering style is brilliant. But the direction, editing, and composition let it down. A lot or potential and with better direction, more interesting environments and pacing this demo would be quite something.
Thumb for one man show! How about a followup :)
Thumb for one man show! How about a followup :)
Cool style! Maybe the cameras were slightly too quick and 'uninterested' at times? Sort of takes away the awe from some of the scenes, but it might have become too stale if it went all 2001 a space odyssey on the camera front.
Quite a moving piece. Enjoyed it and, If im not mistaken, quite melancholic.
Camera movements are way too fast to match with soundtrack's drama. The rest looked reminded me of a toy kasparov blended with leftovers from a Kolor demo... pig!
Cool shading, but not much more. Watched it without sound, so assuming the soundtrack was awesome, here is a thumb :)
You guys always set new standarts for style and art and that is, what i really like on almost each Farbrausch demo. :)
i like the concept and music, but in motion the shading kills it. there's some good techniques out there for doing this kind of hatching well - they're not particularly easy to do, but it deserves some more attention than this. :)
maybe for a final?
maybe for a final?
Impressive! Nice on the Bigscreen! Great work wayfinder!
Pretty good, but I agree with Smash - the juddery stencil shading is distracting. I dunno what would have helped, maybe more frames shown faster or a variety of shading directions would help increase the noisiness so it's easier to ignore.
gefällt mir ganz gut!
Not your best...
Great!
strange
had some thoughts about this demo, lately.. wayfinder you are great. hope to see much more demos by you in the future! please! :)
Didn't enjoy this very much. Cartoon look was left halfway finished and without that it was just an average 3d flyby. Not for me.
moody
Liked the mood and content, but yeah, the shading could've been implemented better.
quite moment :)
the best flyby in a comp
New style ... great look ...
Too artistic for me, and the black & white pencil pattern in the background really ruined my visual experience. It was pretty hard to try to interpret them as actual shadows instead of just a masked texture.
The soundtrack is very well made though, excellent work! All in all it's a piggy.

I enjoyed the shading and the soundtrack but it's not that interesting overall. Not bad, though.
heyhey not any piggy ! what a challenge to make as demomaking this fantastic kids story ! more valuable in my eyes because of not big stuff effects, not big rulez soundtrack. humm farbraush tested something as asd did at main 2010. regards to them for challenging and making me thinking of a short cgi movie i participated as hummm drawer researches and then got a film made under old amiga 4000 and cool made
regards infinitly for effort
go on !

Props for making something with a new and fresh style. Good work!
poor effect.
Music!
at first glance i was not impressed.
"the strokes belong in objectspace" i thought...
but it kinda grew on me. so thumbs up for this artsy one.

Hypnotizing.
Different piggy then usually, but piggy.
too much art for me.
lacks coolness, which every demo should have.

100% opposite of what hardy said. this is very lovely, thanks wayfinder :)
oops, thumb!
What gargaj said, but I enjoyed it a ton all the same. Tune is great, the scenes are great.
The rendering style is not quite there. One way I've seen this done is to have multiple 'pencil shading' textures going from light to dark so you can shade the full scene this way, then add a standard edge detection filter over the top to put lines over the ugly joins between the different levels.
The direction.. not far off, could be a lot better with a few changes, and the camera work wasn't always spot on (it seemed to be almost film-like in some places, and 90s demo-like in others). Still, better than 90% of demos :)
Make that final, it's worth it for a demo like this.
(Also, how the fuck did I miss a new FR demo for so long? I literally just noticed it now!)

i do not see a reason for this. but you had one for sure. :)
i actually quite liked this. it was very refreshing. my two gripes are a) the shading - it's very very distracting (you end up staring "through" things every now and then), and b) the dull camera work and direction. the content itself is captivating enough and makes you want to see more, but the presentation kind of lets it down in a way. it's cool though. and the music, while it does seem pointless at times, is well done.
A nice surprise
Nice visuals and effect, but not really progressing anywhere.
cool!
yes
Wonderful
My problems are the usual people have expressed; some problems with the shading (very nice but not quite there), and camera paths that don't communicate with the viewer too well and are too fast. In any case the thumb has to go up. Spectacular color palette, and the music is very nice, reminds me of Constance Demby a lot.
The music is absolutely stunning, beautifully crafted. I appreciate the visual artwork as well. :-)
Too much piggies for a fucking excellent demo. Loved the story.
