YEAH!!
maybe technically-best 64k music ever. great textures, models and atmosphere indeed, and especially great direction!

Technically very good. Too bad that enemies to frag are not avalable yet... I'd like a custom secret mode in the final :)
cool.
Great!

pretty fly for a flyby!!!
Thumb down for no ATI support... that is until I get to see it with a geforce card.
now that's a "the. product."-inspired intro if i ever saw one. :) looks okay but the horrible "scary music" destroys it all.
Ah, I was gonna ask why it did some weird things on my Radeon, but Vulture Explains It All.
kasparov/das produkt syndrome.
tasteless/bland/useless/ugly
..
other than that very very fine code show-of.

awesome!
Really good!
Long loadingtime but then...
First I was wondering, why people are getting this crazy at tUM when the first scenes were shown. But some scenes later I was only _wow_.

Oh, I forgot to vote. Gives me some additional lines...
One of the intros I want to see at scene.org-awards at breakpoint 2004 (bingen/easter/germany).

Looks sweet but the only thing that makes this a 64K is the packer... It had to depack and precalc for ages on the bigscreen.
"Looks sweet but the only thing that makes this a 64K is the packer..."
And how has being retarded been working out for you, so far?
And how has being retarded been working out for you, so far?
well obviously without the packer it wouldn't have been 64k, now would it? :)
One of the best 64k intros I've seen for a long time. It has an incredible atmosphere and while it doesn't follow a plot as such it does have a good sense of intrigue and certainly maintained my interest from start to finish.
i find it quite sad that the lighting don't cope up with the excelent textures and models. Very good code guys, but the rest is kind of... lacking. Next time, try to put in some more punch in order to impress more ;)
well, to sum it up:
pros:
- admirable amount of work
- nice usage of the sound
- pretty damn solid transitions
- cool camerawork here and there
- nice idea to do something 'creepy' in general
cons:
- a fair share of very bland textures
- mostly non-impressive blocky looking models, for example the skyscrapers (besides, the lit windows in that 'city' aliased in an utmost horrible way) or the trees, or the machinery inside that power plant (<- ? i guess it was..)
- quite slow on my quite fast machine
- left me unsatisfied (a lack of action, allthough i guess that's quite subjective)
overall: still nothing that even comes close to for example fr-08 (to dig it up once again), let alone some other stuff released in the years after that. so i wonder why i'm supposed to be very impressed.

Great! The music is really cool for a 64k
oh yes, one more con: the lighting.
WWWWWWWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWW
the greatest athmosphere i've ever seen in a 64k
Nice atmosphere, fine code, cool track.
@abductee: you won the ungliest glowfilter competition!
Overall: ROCKS!

aaaargh! what is it with nvidia-only these days? i can only watch this on my crappy laptop.
however - a great 64k! good atmosphere, great graphics - and finally someone who does non-abstract textures in 64k! i´ve been waiting for this so long and especially that factory is really, really good.
only major minus is the uninspired office-scene which really doesn´t belong into this intro and destroys a lot of the dark feeling imho.
definately one of my favourite 64ks ever.
waiting for the patch :)

plek: the lighting is a con??
i think plek switched the pro and con lists.
(or maybe i am, the lighting sucked anyway)
EvilOne: no, replay/rzr won that one a ling time ago... http://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=11127&howmanycomments=25&page=1
i think it was the highlight amidst the rather average quality of the tum-releases .. thumbs up for this one.
crashed :/... and left the resolution screwed.
fiver2: some funny effects like in the screenshot here aside, it was, imho, was all looking too.. can't find the right word but.. how stuff looks when you don't really light it properly but just distribute equally contributing lightsources among a scene. i think 'dull' describes it :)
plek: interesting. i remember the factory lighting looked great. think i got to watch it again (patch! ;)...
the factory did have slightly better lighting than the rest imo, so that could be true; besides that, on a bigscreen it probably looks much better due to the free 'fsaa'. besides all this i'd like to add once again that it's probably also quite a strong matter of taste, i personally like to see quite sharp contrasts -> that i missed.
Make it work on my Radeon 9600 PRO.. the screenshot looks interesting.
Doesn't run on my private machine, but I really felt that orgasm coming inside my body when I saw it at tUM*o3.
rulez
been wating for this for a long time too. waiting for a patch/final that makes it run on my 9600xt.
well no ati support : wait for the final for my 9600 XT
atmosphere, some kind of storyline, a good camera work, good textures and fitting music ... What else makes a good prod ? ^^
the city is great, but the first scene blew me away :)
Forgot to mention that the DOF effect throughout the intro is definately a nice effect too ! :)
Ok, sure, this got a very good compression ratio and all but to be honest. I don´t find the 3d-fly-by-static-no-action 64kb intros that amusing anymore. The only motion we see is based on the cameras movement and I wan't more action than that. Nice intro, Just a little "dead" I think!
rulez
Very good atmosphere, but I am missing something. I have watch it again later.
Just a thing: can you use mipmaps on the city scene? Far buildings look very crappy.

needs geforce.. :-(
i liked it, but hey guys we need to get and end to this factory-themes in 64k's, atleast we in digital devotion will stop using it.
Great work.
Great work.
really innovative black and white industrial style, especially for a 64k.
And for me it's been this years best tum release.

das war sexy!
It looks *very* german. couple of nice touches of detail here and there.
The only thing I didn't really like was the misbehaving textures for the greetings and city lights. They stood out like a sore thumb.

im still wondering what is the ultimate feature of the geforce1 in this that a radeon cant do... no thumbs down because i like the content, but people should really start to learn how to code. (what about dropping opengl and start using d3d's debug output? (most useful tool ever) :-))
wooooooooow this was so great !!! :)
respect for 64kb !!
I love outdoor scenes and the atmosphere
was great...music was also nice ! Looking forward your next prod ! =]

What shifter said, anyway it was a very impressive 64k intro!
really nice atmosphere in this one
abductee: then i should not have blamed the musician as much as your poor taste in music, my bad. :) don't misunderstand me - scary music was a good choice, it's just that it wasn't scary - just plain bad. (which is a shame really, since the music in the cityscape-part is actually very nice)
thumb up for the visuals :P
Very very very nice! A great story, cool effects, great textures, spooky atmosphere. Has the same general sort of feel as Kasparov by Elitegroup imho.
I thought the music fit well (except for the lead in the citypart- would have liked a less 'chiptune'-like lead).
Since talk is cheap, I'll offer a few suggestions for the final:
*Do something about that loading time.
*Connect the armrests of the chair to the rest of the chair, at the very least.
*Could you at least make the ground under the buildings in the city black?
* Imho when you see the city at the end of the credits, the lights should be out... then you turn them all back on on the very last note. (okay, this is a silly one)
Oh, and plek, take a look at .the .product if you want to see really awful looking trees. These are way better.

i wouldn't overestimate it. it has been a lot of work, sure. but i don't see the point in generating all the same building&landscape thing out of it over and over. the production if syntactically far to simple. noise, and sinus and step .. and if you cant come up with a colorscheme you do it monochrome. and if you can't imagine a meaning you do a "watch it, there's something evil behind this noise-textured cube (and it even turned off my light!)"-story.
that loading time was not half bad, just buy a decent pc ;) noize also has a point.
and even if the trees are way better (but still horrible), the intro isn't.
and even if the trees are way better (but still horrible), the intro isn't.
Highly Impressing !
Gave me a really great athmosphere on the bigscreen which most fly-bys don't. I second MadenMann, this one needs a scene.org awards nomination.
nice atmosphere, cool code.
Although i dislike the new wave of "put as much as you can in 64k and forget about the rest", i give it a rulez for the nice volumetric effects and the textures.
sykt!
that volumetric light effect is neat indeed
ahi va la ostia!
Ok, i ran it on my dad's computer (p3-500 with gf2mx) and it was slow as hell during the dof/blur-scenes, but it did look sweet as hell.
I'm looking forward to a fix to make it run on my Radeon so i can watch it in full speed. Anyway, here's a well deserved thumb.

amazing code, incredible textures, outstanding volumetric lighting, sound fx and music... let's see some more already! ;]
on one hand, there's nothing new here at all, it doesnt take the technical standard of 64ks forward or something like that.
however, it really is damn well polished.
its got a lot of nice little touches, e.g. like the alpha to blend in the reflections (many wouldnt have bothered), and the dusty effect on the "volumetric" beams. it just looks very polished and pretty.
the look of the thing is nice and coherent too. who cares if the colour scheme is a cop out, it looks great anyway. pretty good for codergfx =)
criticisms - the post filters and the city scene are both slower than they should be. also there's no animation except for cameras.
i'd love it if this was the last of the big fr08-esque industrial flyby intros - this is a good one to stop with. (any correllation between the number of industrial scenes in intros and the suitability of modelling them with primitives?). of course, it probably wont be, and we'll see another 10 copies that arent as good, but here's hoping anyway.

It was very impressive.
great... nice modelling... nice ambient music... finally a flybye not so boring
just adding my voice to the "ati version, please" stash.
amen to that...
eye- and mind-catching ! my 1st 2004 big demosensation ;)
but please oh please give us an ati version !!!
but please oh please give us an ati version !!!
a worthy winner and an atmospherical dense intro
cool visuals, nice experimental music. a bit slow in some parts though.
very cool
nice athmosphere and music, good overall feeling.
nothing super-special though as some people do state.
anyways, big thumbs up. keep it going!

Yeah, ILLmenauer Pauer! DOF is amazing!
I - really - like dis!
I hope there would be more first releases like this one. Looking forward to your next release definitely.
Oh and my source told me (Shiva :) that you guys did everything but the textures from code. BIG respect for that, the scenes are on the level of recent tool made introscenes.

nice!!
everything has been said, keep it up!
looks really nice but runs like shit (gf4suckingmx). Nice scenes, textures etc though and it seems to have a good atmosphere. I'll vote when i watch it on something that doesn't kill it with low fps and i can get a better feel :)
Looking good!
liked it.
good atmosphere, neat code and the music fits well.
first part is really movie-like and put you under a certain kind of pressure.
good job guys.
good job guys.
Still impressive on my machine at home.
as the other creator of this intro i'd like to say:
we will ship an ati version as soon as possible. it's not quite easy to get one if you don't want to buy a new card.

If you need a beta tester for radeon, I'm more than ready :) REALLY wanna see this intro...
nice
Crahes instantly, is a pentium 3 really _required_?
'crashes'
a pentium is definitely not required. you can use any fast cpu you want.

runs at 1 frame every 5 seconds on my Pentum 3, Geforce2mx. At what point does it come short? I have seen it at tUM. Very impresive. So a thumb up.
Very strange! it is even 1/5 FPS on the brightness screen. I think CPU gets locked. What thread priorities do you have? Besides, would you please enable to select resolution in the final?
i use win2k, creative sblive, ...
windowed mode would be nice too, yes.
well, it did not work on my ATI computer.. what should I do??
Has no one noticed that the group's name is misspelled?
According to their website, they're Stockholme Syndrome
Hey, why are the thumbs still available? I thumbed it up already.

Wow. Very sinister and bleak atmosphere, helped by the soundtrack. I thought the city scene at the end was epic, and created a real sense of hyper-reality. This is always how I imagined the "Sprawl" from William Gibson's Neuromancer to look, but I never expected to see my imaginings in a 64k intro. hehe. Great work though, fantastic.
rule
kewl textures and.. everything .. Impressive stuff. The first pc production Ive seen where the noiselayer effect looks natural (messing with the colours helped a lot). Also great screenplay.. Really made me think that something terrible had happened (or something).. I wish the music was more organic though... or maybe just a bit dirtier.
One of the few PC-releases that really caught me... Great work! Still hard to believe my "64 intern" was used for this :)
flags lg 'OF TNHE HURL
I really liked this one, especially the city scene.
impressive. The clip of a story told backward is a nice narrative element.
abductee: Oh, then I (or Stoff) misunderstood something. Nevertheless, if you need it again, let me know... :)
DAMN PACK IT WITH UPX PLEASE !!!!
kkrunchy fucks up my os :(
and i have no more space to install another one ( already have 3 )
so DO IT :)
p.s. i dont give a f*** bout size till it's below 100k

not a kkrunchy problem if abductee uses a fucked up base address and ignores the warnings ;)
While I do not generally have high thoughts of hardware rendered flyby intros, this one has style!
holy shit! first i read several comments and feared this was just a fr-08 follow-up but it turned out to be much more. not only technically impressive but moody in a ways 64k's rarely succeed in.
Very impressive indeed. I would have loved some colors though :)
no windowed mode? :(
Technically impressive.
2 Things that bugged me though.
1st The slider setup thing for gamma etc, WAY to sentivite, so sensitive i couldn't even use it as it was just a waste of time.
2nd Didn't return my desktop back to it's original res so thx fuxup my icons :)
Apart from that, worked great on my OCd XP3200+ 9800XT

Gargaj: Why should s.o. watch this >>demo<< windowed? It deserves fullscreen.

I really love the atmosphere of this one. To sad that it is "only" a 64kb. Would be so nice to see more of those scenes, maybe with a storyline in a demo. Maybe next time ;) Keep up the good work, and thanks for the ATI Port. Nvidia only demos sux.
final version work on my gf4mx.
good atmosphere!

really fine one... even if i think that it was a quite strict.
but it's technically awesome

cool.
hey abductee... i ran the ati version, still there are a few minor glitches.. i think they occur because you use a quad or something ... there's one during the lamp scene and one right before 'we are demo' .. and one in the end as well ... nevertheless a nice intro codewise, not much content, but well shown..
Somehow manages to reset my machine (what aaare you doing to my poor radeon/live drivers?) during the city scene.. After having managed to make my radeon9800pro crawl for quite some time there..
Looked really promissing until then, exept the windows on the scyscrapes not really fitting their borders ;-)

The original worked fine, but sadly this version quits with an error on loading.
Simply put: boring. Textures, music, camera movement and models, they're all boring.
pretty cool! works fine on my machine!
two thumbs up!
forgot to thumb it up. here you go. :)
rocks
*Kudos*
I didn't like it... Sorry.
The scenes were very nice, as was the texturing. However, my eyes were begging for some hint of colour. Monochrome can work, but in this case I think it wasn't the best choice. Maybe dull colouring would've been more acceptable, but certainly not bright, and not entirely b/w.
The music was interesting in concept, but overall failed to interest me. And I guess that is also how I feel about the intro: Interesting yet not compelling.
A weak thumbs up.

A weak thumbs up.
The final crashes badly on my computer. Right after setting the video mode to 1024x768, bang, application failure and that stuff :(. Tried the party release, with no hope (I have an ATI card), with the same crashing result.
nope, but no thumb down either
Looks a bit unfinished to me, even in the final. A bit too slow-paced as well to get a thumb up. :-)
nothing special, but doesn't suck either
boring.
Good music, too bad some visuals do not sufficiently support the athmosphere it is supposed to create.
The skyscraper scene looks very good but is definetely too slow and looks bad without antialiasing.
The factory scenes are also good, technically.

great one
It's a flyby, but it's got the mysterious "something"-feeling. I just wish it had more of a plot, instead of just scenes after the promising start. The cityscape was cool.
Something is wrong with the database, I KNOW I COMMENTED THIS prod but now that missed :(((
btw. This is a motha fuckin good 64k. First time i saw i think (don't ask why) it is a demo. After i find out it is a 64k i falling in luv ! :))) RULEZ!

Please wait while I clean up my keyboard =)
The models and textures, as well as the visual ambience, are some of the best in the 64k scene.

Very impressive, even if a bit repetitive. The public wants more prods from stockholm syndrome!
both .exe's crash and change my desktop res and refresh rate.. owww... :( (xpsp2 + ati x700 here...)
left me absolutely unimpressed. it's like kasparov or theprodukt minus... well, like, everything - progression, direction, style...
Beautiful - I forgot to comment before because it never worked for me.

anyone has a video with this? :)
Rocks, rules and other things.

Kick ass stuff (even today),

Absolute awesome fu**ing great !!!!
moody, i like it.
not too impressive
Wow, now that's quite something! I don't know if it was your first 64k, but it must have been an insane amount of work, especially with that obvious care for details.
I'd have comments on points here and there, but I guess seven years make them irrelevant. :)

Ah, the memories... Atmospheric!
wowzee
i remember this one well, a good cinematic piece, in some ways ahead of its time a bit, very cool.
that was great
Hey this was a lot better than what I remembered from seeing it a couple years ago. Nice graphics in a consistent style, instant big plus. The direction is also quite good for the time especially, even though the cinematography makes me nauseous. Nice synth/sound, loved the music during the city flyby!
Actually had some feeling here. Some camera movements are very bad.
Seconding Noby here
Seconding Noby here
liked it.
for the city flight
Great 64k. Never knew about this before and just found it when I noticed some fresh comments. Really quite cool direction and theme, as keito said it is sort of ahead of its time. If you took this exact same theme and maybe edited it down a bit and used all your modern rendering techniques this would sit very well with some recent 64k demos.
Since there is some discussion in these comments and also recently on the bbs about compatibility problems with windows prods, it is interesting that 13 years later this just straight up runs perfectly on windows 10 with literally week old hardware. Actually reading hear shows me how bad pouet comments used to be, almost like a youtube comments section. Some straight up ignorance and rudeness.
