When I manage to find words to describe this demo I will write them down somewhere. Right now I am going to go be stunned some more. Absolutely freaking stunning. I mean the 2d and the small bits of 3d that have been used to emphasise the 2d and the direction of it all and the music and the graphics and the way it FITS TOGETHER I mean it's just... I'm hoping one day I can actually pull something like this off. Really. Absolutely freaking incredible.

an absolutely wonderful production... Chaos, Wayfinder, KB, Floetus, I love you... what I think is great about the production is that it caused - with me at least - a lot of emotion.... it managed to touch the audience... and for that you have my fullest respect... (*takes a bow*) See you at Breakpoint, fellas. Brainstorm will be there. o/

Nicely done! Great soundtrack - and some amazing graphics - a zone66 relapse, which did all this, not so nicely of course, on the american scene 10 years ago... But great to see it back.

It's so-so. Really not fancy. Ok, it's not the mainstream demostyle, but really - you can't just throw something together and think that it rocks just because it's not what everyone else does these days.
added on the 2006-03-16 21:46:06 by pikzel pikzel
Is it a demo or a short movie? Breathtaking, either way. It's emotional, but stays comfortably clear of any cheesiness. Great introduction to the BP06 theme.

Error "Could not create screen"

(I have Geforce5700LE 256mb)

I watched this in windowed mode and I personally thought it was dreadful! I thought the graphics were horrible scrawls, horrible colours, the concept was simple, it was jerky (in windowed mode at least) and the biggest WTF is that it needs pixel shaders?!?!

It was really boring too...picture layers, cast shadow, text, more picture layers, cast shadow, text...etc

I'd expect this kind of quality from JML or Speedfisters or even a Fearmoths joke prod, but not from Farbrausch!

I'm just so confused why all the thumbs up as I honestly can't see the appeal of this!
sucksadded on the 2006-03-16 21:56:57 by Shanethewolf Shanethewolf
Ps. I'm not trolling with that comment I promise. I just don't get it! Paralax scrolling was done over a decade a go on a lesser platform with far superior graphics (I.e. Shadow of the Beast) and this looks like the inferior of the two.
woo .. is it my imagination or was the some hidden code inside in the end scroller music? ;)

seriously, this one was nice; especially because of the amount of neat graphics. using a filled bag of 2d became somewhat rare during the years, also the short mention of the code inside in the end part of the musick made me smile. =)

kicked ass big time.

The only negative things were that sometimes the pacing felt 'too slow' (can't really put my finger to it), some parts of the soundtrack sounded too 'digital' and i would've loved to see the birds flap their wings.

but still, great stuff with a really nice atmosphere!

melwyn: i think i heard some code inside too :-)

What a bunch of shit for a DEMO! F***ing renderquality, no tentacle balls... but wait, wasn't that an Invitro? Remember the invitation files from c64 long ago? text (sometimes scrolling) with background music, inviting you to a party and giving you the data needed. And what do we have here? exactly that. Fullfills its purpose. Plus f***ing cool 2d-gfx. Plus overwhelming soundtrack. Plus cool story with open end, wanting you to see how it ends at breakpoint party (better: be part of what can be the solution there). Plus all fits damned good together. Plus Emo ;-) Plus.... Scene-Spirit! Got it??!?

What? I think you are wrong. I mean, at least if you are going for effects with something _new_ in them. At best, these are wildly different things and it's very hard to compare them.

(sorry, I'm not commenting the prod here.)

It ran a bit slow on my card, jerky scrolling and so on. Which I find a bit weird considering it's pretty much only parallax scrolling 2d images.

But.. I couldn't possibly give a production with this amount of hand painted images anything but a thumb up.

(And well, I think it's not particularly impressively sequenced, or having a particuarly interesting theme).

I liked the style very much. Something completely different, at least from what I watched as yet.
However, I'm missing the party flavour of this one. In my opinion the production is too sophisticated...;) And, yeah, I really need to attend the opening ceremony, because I still don't know what "Rumble in the jungle" is supposed to be about.

very cool rendering techniques, didn't seem too long to me at all. the spirits being "taken away" were kinda freaky, but was nonetheless interesting.

I'm looking forward to part 2... :)

Not very technical code but good designed and screen sequence. Maybe a bit slow ;)

Very nice illustrative music. I'm happy to see how scene music is still connected to the reality of nowadays productions instead of electronic thingies that only fit to the scene.
However, I think that less quantize would had make it less "digital" and more human as said by uncle-x.

And I am so pleased to see real graphics coming back. All in all, this prod has an emotional content and this is rare.

Great but unfortunately, the direction did not make it for me. I don't see the point and I don't want to. It just doesn't fit to the purpose of the intro: invitation and fun!

we've done lots of prods with a relatively technical focus over the last few years. i don't think we need to apologize for doing something that emphasizes its graphics for once, especially when it's as great as floetus' and wayfinders work.

it needs a pixelshaders for some relatively subtile postprocessing filters and blend modes. could've probably been done differently, but seriously, it's 2006. this stuff has been around long enough to just use it if seems fit. for me anyway.

great music and gfx, really.

... but it's just so boring, and why the hell does it need so much ressources?

... well nice try tho, still much better than most of the demos i've seen here these last few months, with balls boucing around, tunnels and pointless shit like that ...

... but still boring, too bad.
