Dutch colors. Would look better with more colors. The pipe thingy movement is really great.

The modelling and colors kinda reminded me of the screenshots of Valve's level editor :) Apart from that nothing too special but for a first demo really nice.

A very ok-ish 1990s look-alike demo.

not bad, coder demo
added on the 2008-07-02 20:25:44 by wie8 wie8
Respect for your efforts guys but this demo didn't make it for me. That visuals looked more like quake maps than a demo and bad textures/lightmaps even make it worse. Music was ok.
added on the 2008-07-02 20:26:42 by masterm masterm
Well, at least it is easy to understand, and runs on my machine. But, it looks like freshly dug up by archeologist looking for artifacts of the last millenia...
rulezadded on the 2008-07-02 20:30:07 by blala blala
Seriously unfinished and the flyby parts remind me of 1998. I got the "quake"-feeling as well, btw :)

But knowing that you've made such cool intros in the past, and that the time was mostly used for building the engine, I have no doubts that the next one will be a lot better.

Lazy-san for sure is lazy, he can't even be bothered to motivate his thumb down ;)
What I don't get is... Did Intel forced you do to a demo? I mean, you said you spent most of the time doing a new demo-system. But you had an intro-system already, didn't you? Why didn't you saved that time and used your intro-system for doing something much better?

very nice prod with a soul, but it looks a bit old - or let's say: too 64k'ish.
rulezadded on the 2008-07-02 21:26:50 by Bobic Bobic
feels pretty unpolished and empty at times. soundtrack is only okay'ish either.
i also think the wheel of that bike is spinning in the wrong direction ;>

still an ok prod!
added on the 2008-07-02 21:30:58 by keith303 keith303
I'm close to thumbing it down, but since it's your first full featured demo, I'll save you - you would have been more safe in my opinion if you hadn't included the "spacebike" :)
More movement please!
Music is ok - however you could reduce the treble on the hihats :)

verdict: a weak piggy

i must say i was really diappointed about this prod.
too static, boring, ugly textures and what gave me the rest was that it crashed my machine in the end and forced me to reboot. so .... here's the pig

No, they didn't force us. We wanted to do different things than we can do in a 64k, so we started on some new/improved tech... but in the end we just wasted too much time on that. We kind of underestimated the amount of work that is needed for a demo.

A bit dated, expecially in this compo, but it was still nice. :)

I really loved this! Sure it looked a bit dated and could have done with more lighting/shadows, but I found it very immersive and it was nice to see a consistent style and colourscheme throughout.

ok i give it a rules coz it deserves it.
it just looks a bit unfinished ( trust me , 2 weeks ago our entry looked a lot worse ).
the eason behing my thumb up :
-1) consistancy
-2) nice and innovative scenes ( not only toruses like some entries in this compo)
-3) nice texture work and lighting ( those who think this demo has bad textures have probably never applied uv in their life).
4) good music

too bad the level was so high. many people would have thumb this up in an other context. I admit that 6 week is really short when you don't work on it full time ( i m a victim as well). If the next one is of the same level and if you take time to polish it then you will kill us all.
carry on the good work.

Good for a first demo, but simply just too clean-looking and longwinded to climb to the top of the Intel Demo Competition. The music didn't feel very inspired, and the visuals were .. well, a bit dull and "clean". Still, good effort - I wait in anticipation for your next demo guys :)

meaning of seiryoku (japanese):
(1) 精力 【せいりょく】 (n) energy; vigor; vigour; vitality; (P)
(2) 勢力 【せいりょく】 (n) influence; power; might; strength; potency; force; energy; (P)
added on the 2008-07-03 12:49:50 by bartman bartman
I am undecided... Maybe it's the context of the competition. From the five contributions Seiryoku definitely made least of its potential. The music is cool and I love inque's style of modeling and lighting. But then of course there are obvious issues with missing shadows (e.g. for the monocycle) and tweaking of scenes. I would love to see a final of this one.
I really learned to hate IDC for it's fixed deadline. I probably would have invested another six months into Seeker but suddenly time was over and the topic gets wasted forever...

I really hope your Evoke release gets more time.

I like it. Could use some post process and more polish maybe. but whats there is cool already - the greet part is nice, the animated bits too
ppl have prejudice against 3d, but how often do you see a coherent well-made 3d demo, vs hundreds of 2-3 effect abstract thingies.

The tunnel is just ugly (not to even mention that "spacebike") and lasts way too long. Other parts are a little bit better, but not enough to save this one unfortunately. The music is alright, but it could've used to more punch (Probably could be done just with better mixing). Still worth a piggie.

I liked the interconnecting flipping flaps, and the movement of the rings around the vertical pipe (hope you know what I mean). I've gotten tired of that sort of machine environment in demos, but I see potential in that sort of thing.

good example of "bad direction" (since it's a matter of discussion atm). very few, uninspired visual ideas stretched in long uneventful shots. ever since their marvellous release at last year's evoke, i anticipate inque release with extra excitement. this one is a let downer though ...

Music not good.

Come on guys, if you need to do a tunnel at least do it with style like mfx. Showing the same boring tunnel without anything interesting in it for so long without any interesting camera movement either really destroys the demo, especially if the rest isn't that interesting either and the music does little to compensate.

Some nice things, but first, for the amount of content it has, it should have been much, much shorter.

And second... Puhlease, don't stretch the view like that, it looks very lamerish. Proportional, please. Every time i see apect ratio gone wrong, i puke, and there are a whole lot of people who feel the same.

Also, this feels somewhat dated and I'm not crazy about the music which lacks EQ - oh, and a good hook.
Overall, nothing mind-boggling here - in fact, I thought this was quite disappointing giving the compo it was made for.
i loved the things going in, out and around on that cylinder (below the swirling ball that is). the rest was rather boring though. pig
