Really nice in every aspect. I have to admit that I was a bit disappointed when the flowy ASDish style in the beginning turned into a more traditional demo, and some of the effects (like the screenshot) look a bit like 1997, but a fantastic debut nevertheless.

Waiting for your next one. Also, special props for a really cool tunnel effect.

Absolutely nice for a first timer! I especially loved the style on the beginning, and was a bit disappointed when it changed into more traditional/oldschool...

For a first effort, this is pretty good. It's a little short, and a lot of the parts don't really feel like they're part of the same demo, but as mentioned - first time? Pfft. This is good enough by a mile. Looking forward to your next one.

Nice first effort. The music had a really weird structure and didn't sound very good, except for in the checker-tunnel part, which was great.
added on the 2009-03-15 16:30:08 by gloom gloom
Also got the crash on exit, but appart that very good. Please do not forget the 1680x1050 resolution in your selector :p

I live the music and the checkerboard tunel :)
rulezadded on the 2009-03-15 17:03:51 by Dbug Dbug
The screenshot looks very promising - unfortunately it doesn't run here (Core2 T7200 @ 2GHz, GF7700 Go, Vista 32-bit). After it shows the loading screen it just shuts down. In the console window it opens it said something about incompatible parameters, but I didn't have time to read it because it closed so quickly.
added on the 2009-03-15 17:53:15 by mic mic
Ok, I just watched it on youtube and it looks quite good, except for the greets logos which I didn't care for. The music is a bit strange, but I did like the outro (during the screenshot part). Overall it's a good effort and a very nice debut.

First, many thanks for the comments and the advices. It's really motivating.

Props to the other groups, I found the compo really great, with demos way better than ours !

JSYK, we will release a proper version of the exe + the source code soon (if you are interested in the D language :p).

Thanks again, see you ;).

Nice little demo, although I feel the whole 'orange man' set up was wasted. A bit too ambitious perhaps, or maybe just a lack of storyboard/time, but nevertheless the skills are there, you certainly got my attention.

Very nice first demo, reminds me a bit of old Melon Dezign demos on Amiga. Nice effects and music, specially the tunnel is cool. Greetings were a bit hard too read. :)
rulezadded on the 2009-05-11 11:21:01 by StingRay StingRay
In shaders.d at line 121 replace this:

Code: for (int i = 0; (it.hasNext()) && (i < count); i++ ) { char[] s = it.next(); lengths[i] = s.length; addresses[i] = s.ptr; } glShaderSource(handle,count,cast(GLchar**) addresses,cast(GLint*) lengths);

With this:

Code: for (int i = 0; (it.hasNext()) && (i < count); i++ ) { char[] s = it.next(); lengths[i] = s.length; addresses[i] = s.ptr; if(addresses[i] is null) addresses[i] = ""; } glShaderSource(handle,count,cast(GLchar**) addresses,cast(GLint*) lengths);

It should more or less make it work on ATI cards (it seems there's timing issues).
added on the 2009-05-11 12:02:10 by hitchhikr hitchhikr
YES thanks a lot dude ! I've been looking for it for a long time, but no ATI card to test with. Seems like glShaderSource is expecting null-terminated strings.

The synchronization is indeed a bit poor.

slides from demo in paris #2 (in french)

Also, this version includes the hitchhikr fix (thanks again!), it is probably better for ATI cards.
Sorry for taking so much time to fix this, neither of us have an easy access to an ATI card...
