Argh! No comments yet! This is the realtime raytracing intro (even if you've heard otherwise, it's the real deal) that set the PC scene ablaze. Great trance soundtrack accompanies both ray scenes and blurred 2D effects. Supposedly has real hi-color support, but I only got fakemode to work.

Why didn't everyone just start to worship MFX at this point.

Few realtime raytracing intros/demos manage to create such an atmosphere as Transgression 2. Download.

This intro rocks, although I spent ages trying to get it to run in hicolour instead of fake.

Has anyone noticed that the backing synth has the ability to crush your ears when played through headphones. Try it sometime. Kinda like the 180degree phase shift for surround.

this looks really cool on my machine when i try to run it in hicolour, it's just black and blue. surprisingly, it's very beautiful even like that. :)

The soundtrack is among the best intro tunes ever. I still sometimes hear it in my head :)

Very good atmosphere and a superb soundtrack. This is the best I have seen from MFX.

Nearly a decade after this prod I still encounter people who insist that realtime raytracing is not possible with latest pc hardware :)

My all time favourite MFX production. It is really good. I flied on my P166 + GUS back then, the music is good, the sync is great and all together the atmosphere makes up a real killer intro/demo.

Impressive!

Here's a Capped.TV capture attempt. [Couldn't get high-color working, so it's fakemode with the scanlines sampled together]

Sometimes code hacks are right out there for everyone to see, but they still look so cool.

absolutely great! i dont think this one runned on my old pentium machine, i think it was because of video-mode or something.

Not sure what to say, that hasn't already been said. The combination of technical side, mood set by the graphics/design and of course the cool trancey soundtrack just made this something I remember very clearly ogling at when this was released -- and one reason why 216 became my god. :P

Does anybody know what packer was used?
added on the 2010-05-28 14:04:57 by raer raer
Seems to be packed with "Pro-Pack"...

If you unpack it, it crashes upon execution. A disassembler reports no executable code, though the strings at the end of the file look ok...

For some interesting hi-color mode action try machine=svga_et4000 in DoxBox. :)

Still curious what the actual native resolution of this intro is, but 640x100 would make sense.

Dose of raytracing served by 216. Very brittle, cold and detached atmosphere.

It's packed with Pro-Pack 2.x; Unpacking works fine with UNP. I'm not sure why you would want to unpack it in the first place, except for ripping the s3m perhaps or reading the quickly flashing word list in the gray plasma part. :)

(aaaand here are some hi-color screens, btw.)
