Yes, the ex-pornstar in the kebabjoint was rather grumbly, luckily the girl at the currywurst stand was cute and friendly. :)

I guess the stats for DTV is word enough. But thanks anyways! Next time we'd like to see a native VLC/MPlayer solution tho (thanks to nicomen for transencoding).

I really only have one thing to complain about this year, and that is the smoking in the hall. If you go to the "tunnel" in the back of the hall, it's the same distance as going outside to the tents so why not prohibit smoking in the main hall? You don't need to smoke at the same time as you watch compos anyway.

As usual, the later the party goes, the more people start smoking at the tables, and my eyes gets really fucked up by the smoke, and clothes that smell of smoke is really gross....

I can understand that you smokers wanna smoke in front of the computer just as much as I want to have a beer next to mine (and you don't have snus which we have in sweden)... but at least I'm not bothering anyone else :/

Enough said about that. The rest of the party was superb organized, I'm really impressed and would like to give proper credits to all crew who made this possible, from main organizing to food personel in the beer garden :) Thanks for a great party, see you next year!

i would like to say thanks to the organisers for everything, and also apologise. :)

thec: personally i agree with you. smoking would be a real pain for me if i had to sit in the main hall, especially with chainsmokers next to me. during the prizegiving ceremony i stood next to the tunnel, and the smoke irritated my eyes even after a few minutes.

i'd agree to prohibit smoking in the whole main hall, but the organizer team is unsure whether they want to face the adverse comments from all the oh-so tolerant smokers demanding tolerance from non-smokers.

it's a general issue in germany at the moment. we might have a smoke-free-inside breakpoint soon. who knows.

then again, scamp smokes a lot himself, so do the math. :)

by the way everybody,
thanks a lot for being a great audience at the awards. it was a true honor to see you screaming with the gathering guys. :)

and i'm truly sorry for you two-and-a-half sun-shy guys being offended by our turning-on the lights for the wifi emulation compo. :)

Really really great party. Don't get me wrong; Breakpoint is AWESOME, but there were a few things I thought could be improved:

1) I think smoking should be banned from all parts of the hall; people smoke inside anyway, but even if they didn't, you have to walk through a tunnel of smoke to get to the outside which is horrible. Smokers just don't realise how f'king unpleasant the smoke is.

2) The amiga prods audio sync was crap. When my intro was shown, the sync was miles out and it made some things look shitty. Please be really careful with the audio sync. I've tried it on four amigas and WinUAE, and the sync is fine in the intro itself.

Other than that, it was great!

Er hold on - there were No Smoking signs up in the hall, so I thought that it was prohibited, but that people were just ignoring the rule. Oh well. Yeah, I'd be happy for it to be banned inside.

we can make a non-smoker's tent outside with access to the bonfire.

scamp/team: thanks for an awesome time again

Unfortunately I didn't make it to Breakpoint this year, but I've been there before and I plan to go there again.. and people smoking inside is the absolute worst part about Breakpoint.

Smokers only have to walk outside for 5-10 minutes (or whatever it might take to smoke a cigarette) but if you don't - you make the experience very unpleasant (and dangerous) for the non-smokers the entire weekend, 24 hours a day.

And it's not just at the party that the experience is unpleasant, afterwards when we have to unpack everything and everything you own stink of smoke. It really does stick to everything...

It's 5 minutes a few times every day versus an entire weekend for the rest of us.. think about that.

While we're at it, two mandatory showers a day for everyone, no food leftovers and puddles of beer everywhere, and no unpleasant loudness of any kind. Also, you should consider delousing attendees. Please. For the children.

If all that fails, maybe you want to look into air conditioning or something. You know, as a last resort.

air conditioning (eg opening windows or something) during the big events would be a major plus.

also 24h food.

and a bigger bonfire (or two).

more benches outside.

and larger space for the infodesk area (if its possible to widen the entrance tent at all).

other than that, it rocked as always!

I'm a chainsmoker myself, but wouldn't mind a smoking ban in the main hall at all. The real party is outside anyway ;)

However...

While technically this may be true, previous experiences force me to argue that nothing beats smoking & drinking & arguing about the quality of the prods on the bigscreen with friends during the compos... :-)

I need to congratulate all those organizers for this nice party.
There was allmost nothing about to complain.

One note about the smoking stuff ...
When they want to forbid people smoking Cigarettes in the hall, they should also forbid watching xxx and jerk off at the nights ... ! :)

And when i see what kind of demos the people code while preparing and organizing a party ... Whow ... Thumbs up ...

It was again a pleasure to be visitor of this party, even when iam now totally exhausted by travel and all stuff happened at the party ...
i guess ... Ill be back

People comparing 'smoking in the hall' with 'taking a shower' or 'watching porn' are idiots.

Yes, because the goddamn smoke from the fire is good for your health.

I had a surprisingly good time after all. Once again, sorry to the organizers who dragged me off to the showers for a nap and sorry to the cleanup team for the fact that my hair was all over the fucking tent -I owe you more Gimbap next time :)

Oh yeah, I guess you are a smoker. I dont care about people watching porn. I can just look elsewhere. I can not get back the lost years of my life due to having to inhale tar for 3 days in a row.

First of all: We are now working on getting the release archive completed.

Although the non-smokers (which I'm also btw) do have a point, I wonder why this is suddenly such an issue? Shouldn't we move this discussion to a general smoking-on-parties thread instead of only blaming breakpoint for this because there are many more parties where people can smoke inside.

Regarding the air in the hall.

First of all, "opening the windows during big events" obviously is bullshit. This is as good as "how about visiting the neighbors with megaphones".

And here we go for a rant from a smoker:

- Smokers didn't destroy our carpet, people pissing on eat, puking on it, spilling beer onto it and dropping food onto it did.
- The hall doesn't stink due to the small number of smokers. It stinks because there have been 1000 stinking sceners in it.

The hall has a very good-working ventilation system. People smoking on the grandstand and in the tunnels are perfectly ok for that. If you can't stand smoke, don't stay in the smoking areas. It's that simple. They have been marked extremely well.

I had a pretty good view from the organizing area. 99% of the smokers accepted our rules, and only smoked in the areas where it was permitted.

I think the rules we have are extremely fair for both smokers and non-smokers. And if there really would be a need to forbid things to make the climate in the hall better, the very first thing to forbid would be alcohol. Or sceners.
