Btw, to anyone still missing my point - I suggested imagining a demo made by all those groups so you'd realise how horrible that would be. The point was that it's a bad idea, and should be abandoned immediately in the name of public decency.

An old style megademo with SEPARATE parts made by different groups and perhaps even a menu, on the other hand, would rule.

You tend to elevate this rule as an absolute direction. This is a common behavior to gather many different peoples into a single artistic project. It needs coordination and art direction. Those groups all have an identity that could be mixed as long as they are preserved to demonstrate something, like a Celine Dion shouting her usual bullshit on a Boards of Canada records.
(now we have to find who is Celine Dion in the demoscene, and who is Boards of Canada so we can sort out the things ;p)

(kick me for all those bullsh*ts)

oxb: I know it's perfectly possible to get all the top groups together, get them to work on a massive ultra-demo, and kill the scene, but I reckon there are so many things blocking such a thing from happening that it'd never actually work out. A bit like the old cat herding really.

The "throw a spare effect in for an oldschool style megademo" (oldschool as in the megademo concept, not the content :) might at least be workable, and I reckon it would ooze "scene spirit".

Magic: Can you please let this thread die the silent death it deserves? Or else the next thread will be called Andromeda vs. Magic - and you'll lose.

When watching the stream from Breakpoint, my wife thought she saw me hanging out with ASD crew during the scene.org award ceremony. Turns out I have twin brother in ASD. Incredible? Unbelievable? No, just the tip of the iceberg. Stay tuned, keep the thread alive and I promise even more exciting news to come.
