Finnish language?

category: general [glöplog]
noone says that hungary and finland are related nations, but the existant of a finno-ugrian a.k.a. uralic language group, including hungarian, finnish, estonian and some small languages, is a fact.

but the far MORE interesting thing are some new theories concerning the baskian language. they seem to prove that that mysterious language has something in common with the georgian, which is in fact far more weird than the finnish-hungarian "relationship".

Trademark optimus bullshit "bbs thread". With random quotes such as " I need a girlfriend", while the topic is, for example, the languages.

I have dreams of torturing him. every night :-).

Tomcat: did I write that Hungarian and Finnish nations are related?

Did you know that Polish language is one of few which occupies more spectral domain than French, English, not mentioning Spanish? Try to ask Spanish dude to repeat French word Voir (to see). He repeats Boire (to drink), or sth between B and V. Cause they pronounce it in the same way in Spain.
Just to make it clear. I am not talking about accent. Only about spectral aspects.

it's very hard for foreigners to learn finnish as born and raised finns have problems learning the grammar inside-out. anyways, i hang at ircnet, feel free to ask finnish translations like "vihaaja-angstaaja" :D

It's funny that Finnish and Hungarian have some words that are written and spelled almost same way, but have totally different meaning. Example hungarian word "persze" means right, but finnish word "perse" means arse.

So never ask directions from hungarian people, or you might find yourself from the ass hole of the earth.

sauli: like german "recht" and latin "rectum" then (well rectum is a part of the arse anyway i guess :))
in fact, linguists say these two words both come from the indoeuropean root reg-
maybe we're on to some unversal realtion between right and arse here ;)

Optimus, ole kiltti ja älä meuhkaa. Suomi on vain suomea, ok?

I'd like to refrain from proclaiming your need for a life, but I let others speak for me in that regard. Thanks.

i wonder if there's actually some kind of slang inside the finnish language, and if it can be easily recognized or not. =)
