i'm using robert rose's modplayer, it's based on mikmod. it requires a bricked ipod touch though.

now, let's extend the initial question a bit - is there any tracker for the touch? i'd love to have one.

MODern is a new kind of radio app for iPhone and iPod touch, providing continuous high quality dance, electronica and more wherever you are!

If it's really a mod player, who would want to use a mod player advertised as a "new kind of radio app". That's fucked up.

More to the point, why does it have "03.mod" and "Protracker" written in a screenshot?
ah it is a MOD player. I see what they are doing. Looks like the application downloads MODs from the web and allows you to save them to the iPod if you like them.
How can I find that player on the AppStore? searching for "modern" just gives me hundreds of "modern clock" apps :(

There is one ModPlayer thought the comments say it sucks... :( And it's not free.

@Carbon yes, glad you got the idea, it's not my application but I support it, it uses my site for the module sources. You can put your own choice of modules on locally, but it's an excellent little app to let you just grab something random to listen to.

@bartman: As far as I know Apple has still not approved it for the Appstore, and probably won't at this rate. The author has been out of touch with me for some time now. I could prod him to see if it's stil active - I know it's used by a couple of his testers as i still receive hits on the app's API link to modarchive.org :)

@doom: it's aimed at marketing it to the masses, not just a bunch of module fans who happen to know what modules are. I guess the premise is: Push button, receive music. ;)

m0d: Push button, receive classic demo soundtrack from some guy's personal mod collection, watch drama unfold on Pouet.net when it turns out the composers were never asked to participate..

Oh.. "Powered by The Mod Archive". You have to sign up for that and upload your own mods, don't you. So everyone is probably in on it. No drama then. :(

Not a mod player as such, but there was a player for ST chip music if I remember right. Well, it did have a flaw... It stopped playing when the iPod went to sleep. That was for touch/iPhone,can't remember the name but it was possibly YGsomething and it was on the app store.

I can't see any reason for apple to reject a mod player btw, it must be easily inside the bandwidth rules and there's a ton of music player apps.

http://tinyurl.com/sc68player

This one :)
Or a more viewable webpage of SC68Player instead of the iTunes link.

There is also a SID player for iPhone or iPod.
