French groups?

category: general [glöplog]
Hi,
since I am to do a presentation on the french demo scene soon (in french of course) it would be really cool if you could give me some french group names or french scene sites. Also, is there a french word for "demoscene"? It would make googleing much easier :)

Thanks a lot in advance,
sAm_vdP

That was for the PC groups (I did not mention Bomb who arent active anymore)

There are also Atari ST crews that are still active:
Dune, MJJ Prod, Sector One, Oxygene (more or less) and Equinox (not active anymore on Atari at the moment ;)

and Amiga: Mankind

You want to make a presentation on the french demo scene soon and don't even know the name of the famous french groups ... o__O

Well, there's also Oxygene , Popsy Team, Dune, Fantasy, Hydroxid, ...

hint: go on the groups page of Ojuice.

K, thanks a bunch!
Atari ST is cool, but rather hard to do a presentation with and not that impressive for the non-sceners :)

don't forget these active and friendship groups :
Kiki Prods, Ukonx, Wipe, Epidemic, Woodtower, Cymagine...
(french scene was allways cutted in 2 parts, elite+bighead/vs/friends+funny [someone said les parisiens et les autres, tu comprendras la nuance si tu es francais ,) ])

of course, the best way to find groups by their flags are www.ojuice.net (clic on people, and on group-list), but some of them are retired now

but the actual active french demoscene seems to be dead, less than 200 french peoples (from 60million french people) moves to the french partys. (see present people in those actual partys : http://www.synthesis-party.net or from http://start.fr.vu)
i hate such stuff as demoscene presentations for non-sceners...
of course you get a few "ooooh"s from nice girls and "yeah, your screensavers are good..." from othes.. but wtf ?
1] they do not and can not appreciate work involved
2] they can hardly imagine real oldskool scene watching pc acceled inros/demos ( you intended to show right that )
3] DO NOT ! Never ever ever ever mention pouet !
otherwise it would be filled with lo level users talking about weather and what did they buy yesterday...
you know :)

1. You never know who might get inspired watching it. You weren't born into the scene, now were you?
2. And your point is ...?
3. You're new here, right? Optimus, Okkie and Shane already beat the crowd to general bullshit and what they did yesterday, today and possibly tomorrow.

Short Bus + You. Thanks for sharing. ;)

1] i wasn born into the scene. but nobody ( yes, nobody ) told me about scene before i found it myself. ( found :) haha ) yes, i'm quite new to demoscene... not to the whole scene. and not to coding.
2] no idea
3] ehm... see 1]

Tell them that there exist many French sceners still coding on the CPC. They would love it! :)

Mft: Well... *I* got into the demoscene (not sure what other scene you're referring to, but I have my ideas about ithat) because people handed me floppies with MUST SEE written all over the label. I'm not saying we all need to get into demos like that, but whatever shoe fits.

And why bring up oldskool nonsense if you don't know why you would want to make a point out of it? That's just odd.

It's nice to know that you needed nobody, it's very Anakin of you to have done that. This appears to be the modus operandi we all need to aspire to? That's rich coming from a newbie.

my old CPC prods can be found on http://norecess.planet-d.net

but definitively, CPC German scene was more interesting in their prods than the frenchies

(german = technical, french = design, greek = ugly :)

mft, yes, i'm quite new to demoscene... not to the whole scene.

i share shifter's curiosity - which scene is the whole scene, actually? :)
