Global Warming is a SCAM

... no, the solution itself !

When you value rare things highly, you turn honest people into thieves.
If you show people exciting things, you will make them covetous and greedy. The wise rule by keeping the peoples' hearts empty (of desire) and their bellies full.
Making their bones strong and their ambitions weak.

Since the people are free of avarice and desire,
even the most cunning grifter has no opportunity to corrupt them.

By using the "not doing" principle,
everything just falls into place.

The equal sharing of misery under jackboot rule in a state wich offers up entirely unexciting lifes in which no exciting things shall exist.. I LIKE your thinking. And I don't say that about just anyone. The last person that impressed me like this was Mussolini!

The difference is that I don't think it is a scam, so shouting and being indignant and angry and letting of steam because of it just seems downright stupid.

well that just fine and dandy then. at least there is some form of an opinion floating around in that void between your ears - which you didn't make clear with your initial snipe/comment in this post. the difference is, i'm not going to mock you for your unfounded belief. you can just get the hell on with happily paying your bogus taxes and stfu - for all i care.

Even if the IPCC was a scam, your claim is untrue. The holly oily "standard of living" has never be sustainable, that's all. We 're just getting to the end of it, it is physically impossible to get more from the earth. It is proven an american consume the equivalent of 5 earths in term of resources. I was talking about taoism, a doctrine one can't apply completely, but can try to approach it. Yes, indeed, most occidental people hardly understand it.

...I've read again your post and something intrigued me: you talk of "unexciting lifes" if we would stop to do what we're doing. What do you consider an exciting life ?

where do I say that? I do not say anything like that.. You did however say (among other things);"If you show people exciting things, you will make them covetous and greedy" and I commented on this sweeping nonsense.

krabob: they might be living "exciting lives", but the only thing keeping them alive is the hard work of others - mainly their parents I presume. others have created the societal and concrete infrastructure (food growth and transportation, education, medical care, roads, houses, the technology to amplify their shitty bands etc etc), where these hippies can play their little games. and as you can see, they didn't come there riding horses or camels.

Well, as I noted, it's difficult for you to understand taoism at the moment. I hope you will manage one day -> °

eebliss, why make shit up to explain WHY it shrinks, instead of just sitting back and observe the FACT that it shrinks? It would be much easier to a) refute any observations that it shrinks, b) accept that it shrinks, but say it has nothing to do with pollution and energy consumption and therefore we don't have to clean up after ourselves or use extravagant amounts of energy, c) say it's a scam perpetrated by ill-willing scientists and the corporations are the real defenders of the people('s tax dollars), or d) adopt the opposite approach :) and shrug you shoulders and say "so what? I don't have any kids and I'm dead in 40 years anyway."

Or you can feel sorry for what others have done to our Earth and support measures to make her cope better with the infection that is humanity. If somehow humanity would instantly be wiped from her face and covered completely with any other species, she'd recover in record time.

Who, if not the Man-Virus, should change behavior?

Stopping clearing of rainforests and pooling fines [on products] from dirty corporations to corporations improving the environment, as well has giving every product an "environmental impact value" (to compare by) just as food has a calorie value, electronics have a watt value, toilet rolls have a price per asswipe value, are all

Good Ideas (tm)

regardless of who is right about a specific part of environment problem. Unless you think the Earth is perfect and will remain so for millennia...

Photon, I don't think you know the difference between the weather and the environment. I don't think there is anything BUT consensus that we need to clean up our act. even the companies are interested because there might be new money to be made here.

What has been in no way proven is that we cause bad weather. On the contrary it would seem that scientists and politicians alike has been bending over backwards to create the impression that you do. Only, when they say "Climate" you have been wired to think "environment" and it shows from what you and many others here has written. I repeat: Climate, It's the weather, stupid!

Oh the straight scheme !
Actually the amount of work needed to reach what you see in the image is very little. What amount of work is really needed by these people ? A very few part of what we actually do. We work really too much just to pay such stupidities as cars, or computer that last 3 years ! Do you see something rationnal in the rents ? People that works are going too poor to find a flat ! Computer scientists as most of we are, should be aware that most jobs down there are completely useless to the good run of the society.

By the way, to be complete...

The "others that works" don't even live on their own money, but on credit, money they don't own. Who are the theft ? the workers. Not the lazy ones. Disgusting system.

If they do not take up hunting or agriculture very fast they have apx. 20-30 days left to live. Unless they want to walk around in bare ass, they better come up with a way to weave and extract woll or cotton (farming and agriculture), unless they want to be sick they need to secure safe drinking water. This means staying nowhere near the source, this a means of transporting the water is needed which requires a potter who needs clay and firewood that in turns requires a forester and a clay collector who has a means of transporting fairly large amounts of clay. Say hello to the blacksmith and the carpenter who can make wagons, if they get wood from the forrester and ore from the miner..right, theres a miner too...I cold go on for hours what you need just for what is going on in that image. never mind the producing the stage gear and electronic instruments.

Just thought I'd stop by and say my beef is not with rtype or eeblis or any of the sceptic crowd. My problem is with what I perceive as another attack on scientists doing honest work.

The media and politics are the mouthpiece of our society and they tend to manipulate the science to meet their own ends. This is a problem. It's their responsibility to summarize the science and present it in a digestible form. They have clearly failed.

Generally I believe scientists do not try to deceive the public. There were clearly some frustrations at CRU, but I have no reason to believe that these would affect their reports or results. I will wait for an inquiry on that.

The arguments flying around right now are arguments amongst laymen and politicians. People of influence typically shout louder and coarser than the people doing the research and I would rather those people be allowed to do their research and present their reports and have their methodology and findings evaluated and challenged by their peers who actually understand this stuff, rather than be bullied by the media and the activists.

By all means bully the politicians and believe whatever you want to believe. I only hope you want to believe something that is based on a sound evaluation of the available evidence from both sides, and not simply a ready-made just-add-water opinion created for you by some dude on some blog or some reporter at some newspaper.

eebliss, yes Climate=weather after some fashion. Climate is usually used to describe the general temperatures and weather for say, a small country over a long-term period, and weather is short-term and very local. But I think I know how you meant it.

I think what is meant with "Climate Crisis" is that the climate for MANY countries, at the same time, are changing from what people there have experienced for generations. Certainly, unusual climate is just unusual weather for a long period, I'll grant you that. And not all remember "that unusually hot summer 80 years ago" or when grandad last saw a huge ice berg drift by the summer beach...

But - this is what I mean -
1. Polar ice caps are melting. Fine.
2. That makes cartographers have to recall atlases they worked on for 10 years, to rub out islands and change coast lines. Fine.
3. There's a bit of hysteria right now about various phenomena.
4. Hysteria makes us push for more climate- and environmentally friendly products and question our own and corporations' wasteful methods and energy consuming processes. Especially if we're prodded a little; goaded if you will to raise public awareness and opinion.
5. Later on, this gives a cleaner world with less pollution and waste of energy.
6. Perhaps it also as a mere side effect halts global warming to a level where the Earth can cope again.
7. Wasn't the hysteria worth it?

Global warming is no enigma. Choose which hype you prefer, and maybe our children generations ahead will thank us.

these scientists haven't. And you just need to get over it. Does this rub on of every single scientists in the world? Not in my book it does not. I still believe that atoms are there even if I cannot see them. I am willing to take sciences words for it, as I am with a great number of other things science present us with. But we also need to get over the idea that scientists work primarily for the benefit of all mankind. While it is a sweet idea the reality is that you will find more money in breast enlarging operations and 'beauty fixes' than in curing Kroms disease. Scientists have mortgages like the rest of us and are -in this system- primarily interested in scraping in money to sustain themselves and gain as much comfort as possible. like...the rest of us. This is reality, not foggy ideals from schoolbooks, ideals that does not really exists.

Likewise. and I believe that this is what I am doing. I love nature, I love spending time with it. I mean ffs When I was a smoker i did not throw the butts anywhere but in trashcans. I bought into AGW hook, line and sinker. Anthony watts is not just any crackpot with a blog. Several scientists writes on his blog and he links to colleagues. Obviously they are sceptics, but quite frankly, I think 'the other side' have had speaking time enough by now. Time to hear Anthony and his likes (31.000 of them in USA alone) why they -as genuine scientists and experts in their fields- disagree with the IPCC and the measuring centers.

I care not for the truth to be honest. If you want to know the truth you will have to talk to theologians. I want to know the facts. And those are becoming more and more damning by each week passing.
