Looking for folks from the 80s/90s Amiga demo/cracking scene

category: general [glöplog]

Hi folks!

I am a student at Utrecht University in the Netherlands and I'm currently conducting research into the Amiga demo/cracking scene from the late 80s and 90s for a course into theory and culture of computergames.

For my researchpaper I'm looking for two people who were active in a cracking/demo group during this period to ask a few questions in interview form. specifically I'm looking for 1 strategist/planner and 1 artist/programmer.

If you know anyone or feel compelled to answer my questions yourself, please by all means send me a message and I'll get the questions to you asap. My deadline is this friday so I'm hoping for a quick response.

From one Amiga lover to others; Cheers!
"strategist/planner" ?!?!?!?

woops! send me a poke at my emailadress n.l.c.vossen@students.uu.nl

and Maali, basically what I mean is an organiser, someone who did not in particularly partake in programming/coding etc himself.
ah.. right. one of "those".

also, i hope you have more than n=2 planned for this research? you dont need 10% of the population, but ~7 ppl from each subject group might improve validity of your findings ;)
ramonb5/desire is/was zo'n organiser. ;P
Just out of curiosity, what subject are you studying? Computer science or something related to art/culture/media?

I already have a few different accounts and my questions are basic enough to draw a few conclusion out of. I am not conducting empirical research but rather need a few 'eyewitness' accounts :) Thanks for the responses!
I'm a student of Film and New Media sciences and I'm currently doing a course in theory and culture of computer games (take 'games' broader than it sounds ;) )
Ramon C4 is a master strategist and planner

Some studies should definitely offer a course on how to apply for social benefits.

If I was strategist/planner there would be more releases from my group and better quality too :P

haha, i'd be interested in all the things you did during the 80s/90s in the demo and cracking scene, magic. lots of games cracked, lots of demos coded I suppose. *waits for the boring list of diskmags you wrote articles for*

stingray: maybe magic misreads "'eyewitness' accounts" as "sofasceners" ;)
I was "one of those", i suppose i could anwser some of your question if the list is not too long ;-).

Just my two cents - here's a lot of interviews of such people in case you want a bit bigger sample quick or just something to compare to: http://www.bitfellas.org/e107_plugins/content/content.php?cat.22
