So I watched this Pink Floyd-themed dome show...

category: offtopic [glöplog]

Basically a music feature synced to one of Pink Floyd's albums (in my case the Dark Side; WYWH and The Wall also exist) and projected onto a dome--such as ones at planetariums or observatories. IIRC it was recently created in the USA (can't find sources for that, though) and then spread across the UK, Germany, and some other countries. As I can see, tickets cost around 10 euro in Germany; I payed just over 17 here in Russia, expecting to see something tasteful, like this.

...And it turned out to be complete garbage. :(

Basically 45 minutes of average level early-2000s era demoscene, think then-64k level of modeling. There were no overarching themes, very little sync, no complex animation, no decent textures, and very simple effects: tunnels, fly-bys, rotozoomers, fractal zoomers and the like. Scenes had very little artistic merit to them, and to make things worse they were stretched beyond anything reasonable and had very few decent transitions.

The show is reported to enjoy very favorable reviews, which I don't get at all. Don't people know any better (e.g. Lichtmond 2)? Or am I just that spoiled? :(

Stoners. They come out in droves to Pink Floyd planetarium shows. Those have been around for years.
